Yellow stuff needed, lots of yellow

The girls are really getting into dressing themselves lately. Not just putting the stuff on, but actually picking out each piece of their outfits. And they have extremely strong preferences about color. Ro wants pink from head to toe, she's happiest when she's giving off a strong pepto-bismol vibe. Pink's really not my thing, but hey if it makes her happy... Ree, on the other hand, has always been yellow's number one fan. She just loves yellow and has since the beginning. But have you ever tried to find yellow clothing? Particularly pants? I've spent hours on the internet trying to find cute yellow stuff for my little Ree and have failed pretty miserably in her opinion. Can anyone help? If you can find yellow slippers, socks, shoes, shirts, pants, pajamas, bows, hats, ANYTHING, please share the urls -- bonus points if it's something that has a print, stripe, or fun detail on it. Custom boutique or walmart chic, anything works. She wears size 3T or 4T in clothing and size 9.5 or 10 in shoes. Here's a quick shot that shows Ro in her preferred bubblegum-like attire (from the bow all the way down to the socks), and here is poor little Ree, in clothes she grudgingly picked out because we didn't have any suitable yellow. She's saying "I want yots of yellow, yots!!" Ro in head-to-toe pink, poor little Ree in no yellow On a happier note, we took the girls to the Gilroy Gardens Holiday Lights spectacular this weekend and squeezed one last drop out of Christmas. Here is our final Santa Claus shot of the season, this one with the whole family: 2008: Family pic with Snoopy Santa Claus Fun stuff. The rest of the pics from that trip are here.

I was going to tell you about gymboree's new Daisy Days collection too. So cute and tons of yellow flowers. Lelli kelly has adorable yellow sunflower shoes. I think zappos still has them. Lots of sparkles and they hold up. Crocs has yellow. I also love Etsy. All homemade--you can pick yellow. www.etsy.com Hand made dolls, toys, clothes, hair bows--think ebay, but all hand crafted.

  4. I kept deleting because it looked like the whole link wasn't there. It's so weird! It's not there unless you click on the title link of your post about yellow...then blogger displays the whole link. Sorry to leave a mess in your comments! :) Thought I was going crazy for a moment but that's nothing new! LOL>

  20. I was going to say that my son went through this phase too. He used to call my husband and myself vanilla (or yellow) and that he liked the color yellow cause his parents were yellow.. I don;t know if this helps you in your quest or not, but I have seen yellow clothes at Walmart in princess wear.

  24. Not sure if you're a Gymboree fan or not, but their new Daisy line has lots of yellow and there's a yellow pair of pants with an alligator on the butt that are pretty cute. Also, try Etsy. I've gotten so many cute custom outfits that are really high quality. Just make sure to check out the seller's feedback before you buy. I only deal with 100% positive sellers.

  44. Tell TubaDad to relax! Most people don't like yellow at all. (I know, because I like yellow and so does DD#1.) I'm usually able to pick up her very fave color on deep, deep discount sale b/c no one else wants it! Maybe b/c yellow looks great on most Asians (and other people of color) and not so great on many European Americans; you need the dark hair and honey colored skin I think to really set it off.

I second all the advice about yellow on e-bay. (It was trying to find yellow pants in adjustable waist slim sizes that drove me to e-bay in the first place.) Also Children's Place and Gymboree are good yellow hunting places. My daughter had some Gymboree yellow pants that she wore completely out.

But yellow shows stains and gets dirty very easily, so be ready to soak and scrub. I routinely wash all the yellows in Tide, non-chlorine bleach, and dish washing powder.

Needless to say, DD#2 will only wear pink, so this has made hand-me-downs very interesting!

Happy yellow hunting! May you find yots and yots!

  46. Perhaps painting her room yellow would also make her happy. Caroline's room is a bright sunshine yellow with coordinating paintings.

You can see a bit of it on this link and scroll down a little: http://horvethappenings.blogspot.com/2008/12/china-families-reunion.html

I agree with her though. I love yellow! It's a very happy color. In fact, my room is a yellow with burnt umber undertones. I love it!

I hope you post some items you end up getting. Then, we can feel like we "won". LOL
I keep checking back to look at the other suggestions. This is almost as fun as Tubanuts!

  48. I have picked up some darling yello sleepers at Costco. Also Gymboree's line that March 2007 adoptive mom tells you about is darling! I may be buying some of that myself. Heartstrings has a cute yellow dress too. It is on the dressy side, problaby not for play.

  49. Great pics!!!

PUmpkin Patch (an AUS co) have a few yellow items in their summer sale range
    http://www.pumpkinpatch.com.au/esale.cfm?fav_look_section_id=5&season=summer
Not sure if they'll have Re's size though. They also have some yellow in their normal range - click on "little girls" on the top menu. Not sure how pricing compares for you (and post) - remember its in AUS$ (which should be cheaper for you!!!)

    Hi,

Gymboree has a new line with daiseys that are yellow and I saw some yellow pants there today. As I was wadering the store the staff was marking things down already.

Oops just read the other posts, guess you know about Gymboree! Maybe yellow is in this year.

  54. In my humble opinion, it is never too early to start thinking about your summer swimsuit options! I found this really jazzy yellow one with white hearts print on it from Roxy. Check it out at

    Hi Mary Mia,

I am a long time reader from Ireland, and love your blog. We adopted our daughter Ruby from China in dec 06 and she is the same age as your girls! I am not sure if this store delivers to the states, but I buy all Ruby's clothes here, very reasonable prices, and I noticed that yellow is big this coming spring season! Check out the UK store link, you never know they may deliver, or someone you know could post to you!

Aw, great pictures! The girls just get more adorable every day! And, and! I have the cutest yellow dress ever. Bella wore it once, last Easter. It should still be in the back of her closet, I will check and send it your way if the size is right. Do you thing she will still be in a 4T by dress weather? I think it's sleeveless. Wait, I will go find a picture...
