Girlfriends, wine, spa, food -- do I even need to say more?
Oh man, I'm still smiling. What an incredible weekend with some amazing women. We've known each other since 2003 or so, and even though we no longer work together we still get together every other month to bask in some good girlfriend glow. And we always have fun.
This Napa trip was no exception. We were all there to celebrate our girlfriend Junebug's milestone birthday (referring to the actual number is called "using the f-word" and is strictly forbidden).
Wheee!
You know which foot is mine, right?
If I could live at the spa I would. Ahhhh. And dang, those celery robes are amazingly flattering to all skin tones:
This courtyard house was insane!
Can you believe I actually ditched the flip flops for a night?:
I coveted Claire's shoes really bad, so I stole them and wore them around with my PJs:
This was my foodie contribution. Watermelon and goat cheese drizzled with olive oil:
Setting up the girlsfriends' shot and testing the remote:
The whole gang. Love them. (Hey the remote worked, can you see it hiding in my hand?)
The full set of pictures is here: thumbnails, details, slideshow.
And here's what TubaDad's usually pristine car looked like after a weekend with the twinados. The entire car looked like this. I nearly died laughing after seeing what they'd done to his automobile.
He just stared at me when I asked if he'd had time to take any pictures of the girls or put up a blog post while I was gone. Oh well, maybe next time. Heh.
By the way, this was the first time I've been away from the girls for this long. It was weird... not bad at all, just weird. I love Ro and Ree to pieces, everyone knows that, but driving in the car listening to complete silence was pure bliss. And then, when I came home, they raced toward me screaming "Mamaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" and tackled me and hugged the stuffing out of me. That was really nice too.

I checked in over the weekend hoping for a TubaDad post. I guess he was a little busy, huh? Sounds like you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy husband just recently starting dropping our daughter off at school (she rode with me for 4 years), so I've had 2 weeks of eerie silence on my drive to work. I'm still not used to it.
Oh man - I am so jealous! It looks like the perfect girlfriend getaway. That house is awesome, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you - and you totally deserve it!
Welcome back!
I totally know what you mean. I have to go on business trips few times a year. I do miss my kids, but being along at the hotel, drinking wine, eating room service, and watching TV with no one calling me to go help them.. really nice. Then on the third day, I want to go home. Everyone needs a break once a while.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh.........your week-end get-away sounds and looks like it was divine. (And you girls all cleaned up real good!!)
ReplyDeleteGirlfriends and some time off is vital. Really makes us appreciate what we have and helps us to practice patience and tolerance when our cup is full again.
(Hhmmm....must plan something soon. Won't have much of a chance for awhile after baby gets here.)
Welcome back!
Aww, it looks like you had a great time with your friends!
ReplyDeleteTubadad's car is not too bad they could have really broke it in with some squished snacks!
I should have read the blog earlier and met them at the park or something! Tell Tubadad he can always borrow Kyle if you need to get away again...Kyle is already trained in 3 1/2 year old girl!! haha!
AWESOME pictures, M3. Love the the one with the champagne glasses (well, and TubaDad's car, of course...
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on him for not posting - I gave him a hard time already and he ignored me in response...
Glad you had a great time!
It looks like you had a great weekend.....everyone needs a girls weekend once in a while....and I can't think of a better place to go then a SPA....looked like heaven on earth!!
ReplyDeleteLOL at TubaDad's car....
Lisa
PS...Great job with the remote....aren't they awesome:)
I have to travel for work, so I do understand the good and the bad.
ReplyDeleteBut regarding Ladies Night Out (which is my equivalent to your weekend get away), getting a break and hanging with girlfriends laughing makes me a better Mommy in the end =)
Oh FUN! and the celery robes are way cute :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is easier to have the warm fuzzy feelings for your children when you get some alone time on a regular basis - and those homecoming hugs and kisses are the best!
OK... so that last photo resembles my house, on a daily basis!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a FAN-TABULOUS weekend! I so jealous! Spa-ing and all!!!
And you my friend - look fantastic - obviously there is no stress in your life at all?!!!
Looks like a fabulous time! Love the shoe shot! Ha!
ReplyDeleteMy annual girls weekend at the coast / spa (a.k.a. my 'reconnect to sanity') is coming up in 3 months and I CANNOT WAIT!!!...especially after viewing your photos and being reminded how much fun I will be having. Whoopee!
Congrats on your fun weekend!
Cheers!
M.
Looks like such fun, M3, for you, not for TubaDad (brave soul he is). Hmm, I'll bet Ro and Ree weren't the only ones rushing to meet you upon your return (tee hee).
ReplyDeleteI think you look exquisite in those photos!
ReplyDeleteOh man! Looks like you had such a good time! Someday I hope I can leave home for even 12 hours. My envy is a green as those beautiful celery colored robes (you're right, that color is very flattering!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time. You look very well rested!

M3 - You are a gorgeous Mom. So glad that you had this weekend to celebrate with your peeps. xo
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for enjoying such a wonderful girl weekend. And wow, you are so dead on about the celery looking great on everyone...good color fact to know! :)
ReplyDeleteNothing better than a good glass of Pinot Grigio, delish food, and fantastic friends to share life's moments with...enjoyed reading.
Glad you had a great time and TubaDad's car survived! Love the pics...and those shoes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time! I think every momma deserves to pamper themselves like that every now and then.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures belong in a magazine, M ... for real!
ReplyDeleteBeing away is good for you .. but the coming back warms your heart, doesn't it? After a 3 day business trip..the sweetest moment was the purr in Maya's voice when she said "momma" over and over ... as if to say "all is right in my world now!" it's the BEST!
Glad that you had such a fun time with your friends and happy to hear that the girls and TD survived the weekend. Your watermelon salad looks delish, I may have to make that...is is just the ingredients you listed or is anything else added?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a much needed fun time! Love all the pictures and smiles! Now I'm off to buy some watermelon, goat cheese and make that yummyness!
ReplyDeleteI thought I heard crickets chirping when you asked him if he had any pictures from the weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fabulous time! Doesn't get much better than that!
Oh, and I LOVE the picture of the Tuba-Dad car-formerly-known-as-pristine. Tee hee. Ah, parenthood. It's not for the "my house must be a museum" crowd, is it?
What a super fun weekend for you! Love the pix... especially the champagne glasses! Great use of aperture! :) Oh.. and thanks for reminding me... I have a remote that came with my Canon and totally forgot about it! Need to go dig that thing up!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all had such a great time! You deserve it!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous trip!
