Twirly, whirly dresses. Just because.
When you're three, I guess you just don't need anything other than some ice, your sister, and a pretty twirly dress to have hours of fun. Seriously, hours. And I am not owning up to how many pictures I snapped of these two playing during those hours. It's probably hard to believe, but this is the severly edited-down set.
Today, I'm going to take a page out of their book and have fun instead of stressing about the million little things that usually make me uptight. I'm going to smile and laugh and just enjoy the people I love, and I'm going to wear a pretty dress even if no one sees me in it. Who's with me?!
* Photog info: These pics were taken with the Nikon D300, my new Nikon 35mm lens (which I'm loving), and a mix of Programmed Mode and Manual Mode (I was going back and forth playing with Manual and trying to learn it). Oh, and Ro is in the blue and Ree is in the orange.

After a very stressful couple of weeks, I'm with you. The pretty dress will have to wait until I get home from work. :)
ReplyDeleteSweetest.
ReplyDeleteThe close up picture of Marie is incredible.
ReplyDeleteCute twirly dresses.
Gorgeous pics!
ReplyDeleteTwirly dresses, barefoot on the grass... beautiful.
OUTSTANDING job in capturing the sweet innocence of a summer afternoon! All the photos are great! I especially love the ones showing their gorgeous hair "twirling" as well! :) What lens were you using for these?
ReplyDeleteThanks M3 for the distraction from (you know what!)
ReplyDeleteLove the simple joy on their faces. And the gorgeous capture of their hair swirling. Beautiful!
Enjoy this day!! And take a pic of your dress too so we can all enjoy it too.
:)
Thanks guys! I am wearing a pretty dress right now, by the way. Now I just have to work on the not-stressing part. :-)
ReplyDeleteI meant to jot down the photo info, sorry, I'll add it in a footnote. These pics were with the Nikon D300, my new Nikon 35mm lens, and a mix of Programmed Mode and Manual Mode (I was going back and forth playing with Manual and trying to learn it).
I hope you let them take a picture of you twirling:)
ReplyDelete(But make sure your panties to not clash with your flowered dress:)
I love these pictures..You caption them to a "T"..or would that be a "R" and a "M".
Those pictures are awesome, and that close up of Ree is perfect! They sure are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've had a VERY stressful week... I think I need to go purchase a twirly dress.
ReplyDeleteThe best !!! Where are the dresses from ????
ReplyDeleteThe upside-down slide pic is the BEST!
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing pictures! I really love the ones you took of the swirling hair!
ReplyDeleteHi guys, the girls' dresses are from Carter's. My mom just got them a couple of weeks ago, so they should still be in stock.
ReplyDeleteI am dying for a wide prime. (though I guess 35 isn't ness. wide). My 50mm is awesome but I need a bit wider with the low f-stop for the twins. (and I dragged my camera out after 2 weeks in the drawer, canon 40d)
ReplyDeleteLove the dresses.
...you captured some really special photos of your two whirly twirly smile-makers!
ReplyDeleteThose are seriously nice dresses.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say CAPTURED not caption.
ReplyDeleteI went back and reread and thought what the heck..
Beautiful pics, beautiful girls. Thanks for sharing, there's not much better then a sister, especially a twin :)
ReplyDeleteTwo cuties just loving life! Now, let's see their mamma twirling in her pretty dress. I'm sure they can take your picture.
ReplyDeletelove,
wela
Awesome photography! So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteNow I want to go out and buy a twirly dress for MYSELF! :)
ohhh those are great ..do they make these dressses in my size? LOL
ReplyDeleteThis post absolutely made my week. I could just imagine the giggles pouring from these gorgeous girls. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAre those the dresses I just saw at Costco today? I had one in my hand and put it back...now I want to go back to get it!
ReplyDeleteSara has the blue one. She's already worn it to a fade.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are superb. I must learn manual, or any mode that will allow me to get action shots. I've been in blurry town since the start of the summer. These shots are timeless.
I wish I would have read this earlier. I stressed and blew the day to shreds, which is not my usual...but somehow today I hit a wall and lost it early, never to regain my footing. Boo. Try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the reminder!
Indiana Lori
I bet you will sell a lot of those dresses! I totally want to buy one now. Those are awesome pix. You are a pro!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are wonderful! I especially love the third one--with their backs to you and their hair and dresses flying. I really get a feel of movement in it.
ReplyDeleteI can remember waaaaay back when I was a little girl and everytime my sisters and I got new dresses, the first thing we did was to see how high they twirled.
You have a great audience for your pretty dress--none more special than two little sweeties and one big sweetie. I am sure they enjoyed seeing you in your dress.
Enjoy your new lens, and your dress, and your weekend and ...
Ma
LOve the twirly whirlyness of it all! My fav...the one of the orange dress wearer plopped flat on the stairs. It was if she needed a rest from twirling. By the way....where did you get the dresses?
ReplyDeleteThose are marvelous!!
ReplyDeleteKeep smilin!
Hey Laurel: They're Carter's dresses, but I don't know if my mom got them at the Carter's store near her house or at Costco, which carries a lot of the Carter's stuff. Maybe she'll read these comments and answer.
ReplyDeleteThose 2 are the cutest little girls!
ReplyDeleteI forgot who you said was in orange but I really like the one with orange dress girl ; ) from the back with her hair all spread out mid-air.
ReplyDeleteSuper cool. I also like the color combo. There is something about that royal blue and orange together.
Nothing like a pretty girl in a pretty dress...and isn't TubaDad one lucky man to have 3 of them in his house!!
ReplyDeleteBeyond Beautiful!! Think I'm going to wear me a pretty dress and spin...
ReplyDeleteMiss you so much!! xo
I love these pics!
ReplyDeleteThe solo picture of Ree (9th picture down) is absolutely stunning ..... the photography as well as the subject!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is 3 and her hair just won't grow....I'm so very jealous of the long locks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh they melt my heart! If I lived near you, you would have a free babysitter!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos in motion. They positively capture the radiant energy of youth. Thanks for sharing about your fun dress...I'm going to get one tomorrow. This mama needs a treat!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these summer days. I wish I could bottle them up..I will cry when my kiddos go back to school this fall. So much work, yet, so much work. I mean, so worth it. :)
Best,
Jen
