Home with our babies, the loves of our lives, who we didn't miss at all

We're home, safe and sound and so excited to be with Ro and Ree again. I have to be completely honest, though, and tell you that we didn't miss the girls at all while we were gone. How horrible does that sound?! It's true, though. This was the first getaway TubaDad and I have had since we met the girls in October of 2006, and it was pure fun from beginning to end (even the flying, because, seriously, flying without twins is CAKE!!!). Ahhhh. And even if the trip had been a disaster, it would have been worth going away just so I could hear the squeals of "Mama!!!!!" and get knocked over with tiny precious baby hugs when we returned. DSC_1049ms DSC_1053ms The mini set of Cancun trip pics is here. There aren't many, we were just too lazy and happy to take more.

All four of us had a great time at BobBob's mini farm.

When is your next trip? We'll hide the rope and duct tape next time.

    love,
    wela

Looks like you had tons of fun, and 'welcome back' hugs are the best!! Good job Wela and BobBob for surviving the twinadoes!

Your photo says you came to Cancun with boyfriend in 2006?? Did your husband mind? :)

  4. I spend a week at the beach every summer with some girlfriends and I will fully admit that I do not miss Maggie very much at all! It's such a refresher to get a little break from time to time.

  5. Isn't it funny how flying without kids suddenly seems so relaxing when before it was so uncomfortable?

  7. Oh how I envy the time you spent away with your hubby. We had a cruise planned this past weekend for 4 days and then Marc's illness put the kabash on it :( For months before the trip, my daily mantra was...CAMP CARNIVAL!!! You definitely need to be a good couple before you can be good parents which you guys are!! I never feel guilt about wanting to be away with hubby and I am glad that you do not either.

So glad that you had fun :)

  8. Anon: Oh my gosh!!!! Too funny, that was a heck of a typo. I should have written that the Cancun trip was '96 not '06, thanks for letting me know I did that. I've fixed it now. Whew.

Coming home is fab. Makes the not missing them part all the better, in my opinion! ;)

Would you mind sharing what resort you stayed at and what your impression was? We are looking at booking a Cancun trip in Oct. for our 20th anniv. and looking for suggestions. Thanks!

  13. Welcome home!

Glad you made it back - did you free your parents, yet? How about the remodelling work the Twinados did - you like it?

  14. Hi guys, we stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres. It was an all-inclusive resort (food, drinks, activities, etc, were all included) and it was adults-only. It was a really pretty place, the rooms were spacious and decorated beautifully, the pools were great, and the spa was AWESOME. The food wasn't super impressive, but I'm guessing most folks don't go to Mexico for the food. ;-) The one thing that surprised us was that it was actually a little hard to *get* food. I thought all-inclusive places were like cruises, that you would just be eating constantly. But actually, if you were wearing swimsuits or beach attire (like we were almost constantly), you couldn't go into any of the restaurants. And room service took about 45 minutes, so you had to get out of the pool and wait in your room for a pretty long time to get food. We were there with my husband's work, so we've got no idea if the place was prohibitively expensive or reasonable and affordable.

  15. Umm... I think y'all were entirely entitled to get away and get really away - given that your ONE THOUSAND DAYS together anniversary is coming up this weekend!!??!!

    Just sayin'.

Great photos. The water behind TubaDad is great...loved your candy toe pics. (My DDs call my pedicured feet, 'candy toes', I've no idea why...) You both look soo relaxed! Hang on to that feeling, as you never know when it will be there again. :-)
I was in Mexico this past Febr. on a moms only trip and felt starved the whole time. We were on an all inclusive event, it was $$$. Between dress standards and the fact your groups had to have reservations, it made it difficult to function without food (or lack thereof) being too much of a issue.
Color me not impressed on that account, but the rest of it was fabu and I'm so ready to go again!!
    Welcome home. Nice tan!

    Dear Wela and BobBob,

Would you consider *two* sets of twins at once? Could be fun...

    love,

  18. Umm... my momma took the Tongginator off our hands for four days this past weekend. And, really, I didn't miss her either, but I'm glad she's home again. :)

  19. How fantastic! I'm glad to hear you weren't wallowing in misery missing the girls and had a blast together! We're taking our first trip alone sans kid next month. Our little darling will be staying with my parents for a whole week and he'll only be 3.5 months old! Everyone says we are so bad for leaving him. I say parents need some alone time! You go girl!

  20. I am so laughing about the typo, M3 (not that I saw it). I can just imagine you taking off for Cancun with your boyfriend while TubaDad stayed home and watched the twins. Hmmm, even TubaDad probably isn't that laid back.

I was in Target last night to get some yoga apparel, when suddenly I thought about your swimsuit cover. I was lucky enough to find one similar to yours (last one they had). I love it! So comfortable.

  21. Question: Don't Wela and Bob Bob have a blog about their antique car hobby and travels? If they do, I hope they'll let you share the link.

  22. Welcome home!! Glad you had such a great, relaxing, fun trip! Funny...'relaxing' is exactly the words Wela and BobBob used to describe their weekend too!!
