Don't make this lunch, it was a dismal failure
I had such high hopes for it too! Pumpkin-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (sprinkled with orange sugar, in lieu of dessert), goldfish, and applesauce.
Shouldn't have bothered. They picked off the raisin faces, ate one or two goldfish, swallowed the tiniest bite of sandwich possible (under duress), and then Ro ate her applesauce while Ree spilled hers down her shirt.
Bah.

Hmm, did Tubadad come home this morning so they ate cookie dough? This looks so yummy. Maybe they just weren't hungry today. :)

Mmmm...they look super yummy-o. Wanna whip them up for me for supper? I promise to eat them...honest.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny what kids decide to eat one day and not the next?
You get an 'A' for effort mamma!!
Well, at least you got some pictures of proof you are a fun mom and try to make lunches fun, even if they didn't appreciate it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame after such a great effort on your part.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
My son's lunch I made today looked a lot like that. He is actually eating it right now.
ReplyDeleteIt's cute though, and you have these great photos :) Looking forward to Halloween dress-up photos!!
ReplyDeleteOMG these look so cute!! Sometimes the best plans just go up in smoke!

They weren't hungry!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing witches and bats and all the halloween fun shapes for Emma and she just can't get enough!
Try it again, maybe with ham and cheese. You can add a drop of orange or black coloring into their applesauce and do a little swirl. I bought some fruity carrot juice and told Emma it was pumpkin juice and she LOVES the idea of drinking pumpkin juice.
It's so fun to play with food and see their happy faces so don't give up yet!
Our local grocery store's bakery will make orange bread and black bread. You need to give 24 hour notice. Kids love any sandwich with a piece of orange and black bread. FYI sometimes the black bread has a purplish tinge.
ReplyDeleteCute lunches, even if they didn't go over so well! Where did you get those plates?
ReplyDeleteBut it's so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteA for effort! They look adorable..
ReplyDeleteawwww, and it looked so yummy too!!!
ReplyDeleteway too cute!!!!! maybe they were just not in the eating mood!
ReplyDeleteI took some pix of the bowl of Cheerios and slice of cheese I gave my daughter this afternoon for lunch but somehow it just didn't have the same punch as yours...
ReplyDeleteIt looks cute though!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got a cute picture so you can remember it. It's an adorable lunch! My daughter would have picked off all the raisins too, and probably would not have touched the applesauce. But, she probably would have gobbled the sandwich because, unlike me, you are a NICE mom who cuts off the crusts.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some success with this lunch (Other than the cut-outs, I am going to try them with the raisins, etc.) but our girls will eat the applesauce and 5yr old will eat the goldfish, 7 yr old is getting past the goldfish stage and not so much into them. 5 yr old likes PB&J, only way to really get 7 yr old to eat it is to use cut-outs, etc. So I'm going to dig out my Halloween cookie cutters and start again.
ReplyDeleteBut that lunch looked good. Sorry it didn't go over well. You always make great lunches from what I can see. I need some more inspiration, do you have any lunches lately you've had success with?
Molly
My kids would gobble that up in a heartbeat! Even faster!
ReplyDeleteDude!! That is an awesome lunch! I woulda ate it up! :)
ReplyDeleteYour a creative mama!

Really? I would have eaten it, but then I am not a kid. We have those days here (NOT that I have EVER made such a cute lunch) when Maylin decides not to eat something she has had a 100 times.
ReplyDeleteI think it was awesome. Mother of the year award to you!
Wow--those are beautiful lunches!
ReplyDeleteAt least you tried. I'm betting they will beg for them one day.
