The lost birthday photos
A few people have asked about the much-talked-about birthday photo shoot and the resulting pictures. Where are they? Well, shoot, the reason I never posted the pics is because I never took them. I know, what the heck?! I take pictures all the blasted time and yet for the girls' milestone day, their birthday for heaven's sake, I just slack off? Eh. It happens. Instead, here are a few photos that I took of the girls a month or two before their birthday and never posted. I had dragged my old orange canvas into the family room and was playing around thinking that I'd figure out what worked and what didn't in time to rock that birthday photoshoot. Yeah... Oh well, at least we have these ones:
Ro (in pink) was more feeling more creative, so that's why you see more variation in her poses. Little Ree (in yellow) was pretty much only interested in getting a lollipop. :-)
Alrighty, now just wait until you see the results of the Christmas photo shoot I have planned. That one is really going to be great! My tech support guy (TubaDad) has already been given my wishlist of gee-whizzy effects, and he's pretty sure he can figure out how to do it all...

How big are the girls now? They look like they have gotten a lot taller.
ReplyDeleteHoly moly Ree's yellow toenails are just trippin'! Cute photoshoot. I can just see Ro in 15 years with her Paris Hilton pink ensemble with a yorkie tucked under her arm. :)

I love the combo of the colors... magenta with orange and then yellow with orange. Cute photo shoot!
ReplyDeletecan't get over how they are growing up so fast
ReplyDeletesooo cute
ReplyDeleteIf you take a piece of white baseboard and sit it on your hard wood floor in front of the backdrop (you can clip it to the backdrop stand), it will look like your backdrop is a new wall color.
ReplyDeleteSweetest.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the new masthead.
Well done!
I think you may have a model on your hands in a few years.....
ReplyDeleteoh and loving the new blog header!! I love the smaller pic with eyes wide open!! Just beautiful!
And just when I was going to make some smart-alecky comment about the summery tone of the masthead...
ReplyDeleteYou whiz-bang get something gorgeous up there!
The photos are all too too fab.
What a great photographer you are! (Of course, with material like those two to work with, it's gotta be easy and fun, right?)
Anon: They are shooting up! They're a hair under 40" now, and they grew 4" this year and didn't gain an ounce. They're just stretching. :-)
ReplyDeleteTracy: OMG, LOVE that idea. Thank you!!!!!
Lisa and Kel: Aw, thanks. :-)
Akabini: My mom beat you to it! She shamed me into doing a quickie fall masthead. Heh heh.
Wow, I say your "practice" photoshoots were rockin' the house!! You do such a great job at getting their skintones so smooth and creamy. Do you use any particular editing for that or is it your mad skillz?
ReplyDeleteI love the masthead too! I'm a long time reader, but don't comment too much. I hope you guys have a fabulous Thanksgiving week!!!
Do the girls like turkey??? :-)
Where oh where did you get those cute "taggie" skirts I also wondered about their taggie pants they wore this fall around Halloween?
ReplyDeleteSpectacular!
ReplyDeleteLadybugsmom: A sweet friend of ours (hi Dawn!) designed and made those awesome skirts and also the pants the girls wore at Halloween. We just love them!
ReplyDeleteHmm....love these. I guess you're forgiven for not taking b-day pics.
ReplyDelete:)
Looking forward to your Christmas pics.
oh my goodness, their hair is getting sooooo long!!
ReplyDeleteHey Amy, thanks! I edit most photos with Lightroom, and I do some basic stuff like bump the exposure up a tiny bit, increase the blacks by about 5 and increase the clarity by 5. That's usually all I do in Lightroom, and if I need to do any extreme detail adjustment (I didn't for this set of photos because I just didn't have time) I do it in Photoshop. The light in the room that day was good for the closeup shots, though, and that usually means the pics are fairly good straight out of the camera. I needed more light (or more time in Photoshop) to fix some of the tones in the full body shots, but oh well. Oh, and Ree's pics, which were done about an hour later than Ro's, were a little darker because it was starting to get dark in the room. Good enough, though! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, I like the bright colors, skirts, and of course darling girls.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think they are great. I think you did a terrific job with these. I wish we could get our little ankster to stand still long enough for photos like these.
ReplyDeleteyears from now noone will know when you took the "birthday" photos. Love the new header!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of your sweeties and still lovin those skirts!
ReplyDeleteOooo...the Christmas photo shoot should be amazing. If we have snow in time you're welcome here to capture the real thing! :o)
