School pictures are an awful lot fancier than they were back in the 70s

Our preschool brings in a cool photographer every year to do "fashion" photos and the results are always so cute. This year I was a bonehead and completely forgot that it was picture day, so I guess I lucked out that the photographer took care of wardrobe and ran a comb through their hair. I dropped the pics into my FotoFusion program and made these quickie collages. ReeSchoolPics_s-000001 RoSchoolPics_s-000001 Since I'm admitting screw-ups right now, I might as well come clean about something else. When it was time to pick which photos I wanted to purchase, the photographer spread eight different shots on the table and I grabbed two, thinking I had the best one of each girl. She said "Ok, so that's Ree, do you want any of Ro?" and I said "Oh no, this socialite one is Ree and this ladybug raingear is Ro." And she said (correctly) "Um... no... I think those are both Ree..." Gak!

  1. So cute! That's funny about the mix up. I have a class picture from preschool(the kind where they put a bunch of square pictures of each student on one sheet), and they put TWO of my sister's pictures on it, instead of one of each of us. I mean we were identical, but geez. That's a pretty big screw up. That was like 35 years ago and I'm still bitter about it. Heh.

  2. Our school photo company only sent proofs for Max, and when I phoned they said he was the only one they had. I persisted and they finally found Vanh's photos - labeled as Max. Nobody noticed one was wearing bright red and the other dark blue.

  6. Canuck K has done this with photos of her twins, especially if they are wearing sun glasses and not smiling. We can always tell Spice by her smile... cuz it's more of a grimace. Heh.

  8. That is a hysterical mix up. The funnier story here is when my FIL picked up pics of my hubby once, and came home with the wrong kid. So.... dont feel too bad, at least you figured out one!

I was thinking the ladybug raingear pictures looked switched to me - I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't tell!

Of course at least once I've used my daughter's name for my son, so I'm not exactly great at this kind of thing.

  11. Uh, yeah they are definitely fancier than when we were in school! Ours were usually taken after recess, our hair was falling OUT of the ponytail by that time, and we got to wear only what our mom made us wear that day. No props either! Sheesh!

Now, I'm usually pretty good at telling twins apart. I grew up with several sets and never had a problem. But for the life of me, I cannot tell the difference with your two. Can you enlighten us?

  12. Really cute.

Don't feel bad about forgetting picture day. Yesterday I took Casey to preschool and the place was deserted. They are off this week.

Our preschool pictures are: everyone send one parent a picture of your kid and then that parent makes a placemat out of them. They are really cute. Eric put them all into powerpoint and then printed them in color and laminated them. If I could get my act together I would make some as gifts for friends.

I was just about to say that I was glad I was not their mom because I could not tell them apart!

  14. Oh, their school pics are so stinkin cute!!! I remember Nick's were very fashionable in preschool too.....now we get the same old boring blue or gray background shots......but that is okay....I take plenty to make up for the boring ones we get from school:)

  16. Funny! And I just looked at them and thought (finally!) that I could easily tell them apart!

I miss my fotofusion. No Mac version.... sigh.

  17. Ifeel so much better now as I still mix them up in pictures all the time!

Great pics. how cool that they bring a wardrobe. your girlies would love that but i'm sure could teach the photographer a thing or two about fashion.

  18. She said "Ok, so that's Ree, do you want any of Ro?" I am so laughing until I'm crying. I'm picturing a mom only wanting photos of one of her children because after all they look just alike. I know that's not what happened, but the mere thought cracks me up.

    Wonderful school photos!
