We abruptly stopped sleeping at 7am when two eager, dancing girls ran into our bedroom yelling “It’s Easter!!!!!”:
Apparently the Easter bunny did good.
By 10am, the Bunny Bash decorations were in place, and the food was all cooking:
Two eager bunnies Could Not Wait for their friends to arrive:
At 11:30, we yelled “On your marks, get set, go!” and leaped out of the way as the adorable bunny-tail-clad kiddos sprinted hither and yon looking for the almost 300 eggs hidden around the yard:
Once the eggs were all found, we had some wildly energetic playtime (and I had a glass or two of wine). The line for BobBob’s monkey bars was constant, and the playstructure and pink car were never, ever empty:
Then the kids filled the craft tent, turning out cute peeps in nests and peeking bunnies while sneaking jelly beans and scribbling away at coloring sheets and bunny mazes:
On all counts, Bunny Bash 2011 was a huge, whoppin’, hoppin’ success.
(Ro left, Ree right)
Many, many thanks to the dream-team of cooks, decorators, fix-it and idea men, helpers, egg stuffers, photographers, and cleaner-uppers who helped make it happen:
In the end, every kid left with a bucket full of eggs, a huge smile, and a slightly bedraggled bunny tail. And Ro and Ree drove off into the sunset in their beloved pink car toting a ginormous pink bunny and a spare princess crown.
Then there was intense napping across the land. Now if that isn’t a happy Easter I don’t know what is.

ReplyDeletesounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteW.O.W. I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteFun and fabulous bunny bash! Love the craft tent!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't get any better than that . . .
ReplyDeleteOnly one big bunny? LOL My kids would have been fighting over it instantly!
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your Easter bash! WOW is all I can say!!
The girls look so cute in their bright dresses. What an awesome party and your backyard is to die for! What mountain range is that? Is this going to be an annual party? Great job, Cathy
ReplyDeleteThat last pic is hysterical! That's one lucky bunny.
ReplyDeleteKudos to the great mom and dad and all the helpers! Now tell me about that big pink flower placed in the basket of grass......did you make it? Is it tissue paper and if so where did you find the directions. Thanks1
ReplyDeleteLisa: I am *still* tired, but man oh man was it fun. Pop it on your calendar for next year... just sayin!
ReplyDeleteSingle PAP, copperdog, Kayce: Aw, thanks. I was just talking to Maggie (righthand woman with the decorations) and she said that craftwise this was definitely our most "ambitious" party to date. Heh. But maybe the most fun.
Asia mom to 2: They just know they were lucky to get that one gigantic thing -- they lobbied hard (and convincingly) for it for at least a month, knowing it would be a really hard sell to the stuffed-animal grinch (me).
Anon: Definitely an annual party. Actually we've had an egg hunt every year since we met the girls, so I guess it's always been an annual party. We just took it up a notch this year.
Macladie: That was a tissue-paper flower gone wrong. It was supposed to be one of the beautifully symmetrical hanging flowers, but was so lopsided and hideous looking that I crunched it up and then thought "Hey I could just stick it in this easter basket and you wouldn't even see the damaged part!" I'll post a tutorial on the tissue paper flowers this week. They were easy to make once we figured out a few tips.
What a fun party!!!! Amazing decorations! You (and your dream team) are the party kings and queens!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the decorations and craft tent. I can only imagine how much work that was. Those kiddies will have memories for a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteNow, that's how you have a Bunny Bash!! You're amazing!!! Such fun and excitement....I think I could hear the giggles and laughter right through the pics!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Mommy Rabbit and all your helpers who jumped in the help! Now....to prepare for next year. :o) I lurve crafts so would be happy to do some extra early cutting and crafting for you to put away for next spring.
PS - Hannah wants to know if we can have a 4th of July Bunny bash? ;o)
Oh wow! You were not kidding about the Bunny Bash, huh? Looks like lots of fun was had - good job M3!
ReplyDeleteM3, it is me Heather, just *needing* to ask about the paper flowers hanging from inside the ceiling of the tent!!!---- I am in the midst of planning Meera's birthday party and tissue paper flowers are definitely already on the agenda (I plan to spend many a late night making them!), but I have been scouring the internet for something to hang from the ceiling... I had been thinking butterflies but wasn't finding anything I loved. Then I just saw your big flower-type things hanging in the photo of the tent... please do tell: what is it (a mega huge tissue flower????) and where did you get it? (or did you make it???). They look perfect! Thanks, Heather
ReplyDeleteP.S. LOOKS LIKE A SMASHING PARTY!!!!!!!!!
