Tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of family day, the day we met our little girls. Which means that today is the fifth anniversary of the last day I wasn’t a mom.
It was kind of surreal, spending the last few days of non-parenthood in bustling China. We never in our wildest imaginations could have pictured that one day we’d be standing on the Great Wall of China, about to meet our daughters.
The funny thing is that after this, life really got wild. :-)

...and then the best day ever happened! Happy Family Day one day early. Hugs to all of you.
ReplyDeleteit is hard to believe that it has been 5 years :) It seems like just a few months. I have stalked your blog since just a few weeks before you got your call saying you were the proud parents of twin girls. I have loved watching them growing up but is just doesn't seem as though it has been five years.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 5 year anniversary :) You have a beautiful family
So when are you going back again "grin"
ReplyDeleteMette
Oh fun!! I remember reading these posts with excitement and great anticipation and then....the girls arrived and the blog went eerily quiet. :o) I believe I was responsible for no less than 200 refreshes of your blog that first week!
ReplyDeleteIt seems unusual seeing pics of you and TD now without the girls in them. Love the pics of your whole family together.
(Heh...also makes me laugh to see how beautiful Beijing was when you were there. We were there 3 years laterat the exact same time of year and it was freezing and snowed most of our time there.)
Congrats on your 5 year Family reunion!!
Happy sweet and blessed 5 years and a ton more!! So great you two blessed these 2 girl. Or did these 2 girls bless you? I think both ways. Congratulations
ReplyDeleteErika
5 years! Thank you for allowing us all a glimpse into your lives. I have truly enjoyed watching the Salsa Twins grow up. What an experience! Happy 5 years!
ReplyDeleteAmazing memories, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteheh. a pregnant woman is a mom.
ReplyDeleteyou were a mom five years ago today. You just weren't 'showing'. A1
It is so hard to believe it's been five years!!! I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!
ReplyDeleteTricia

ReplyDeleteHappy Family Day!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget when you got your referral (that's what it's called, right?) and you posted that video of calling your family. I was crying at the computer & my girls were like: WHAT? It was AMAZING. Love you guys! Happy Family Day to you all.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you all found each other. It's a match made in heaven, for sure. Happy anniversary to your beautiful and fun-loving family.
ReplyDeleteI thought of Ree and Ro as soon as I saw this announcement. Thought you might be thinking ahead to the holidays...

I remember this conversation with you and TubaDad at a certain Tex-Mex-Pupu-Plater restaurant:
ReplyDeleteMe: "So, you asked for a girl?"
M3: "Well, yes...but we asked for twins."
Me: "Twins! Everyone asks for twins! No one ever gets twins!"
M3: "I know, but we figured why not? If we get them, then we don't have to do it again."
Me: "Twins! You'll never get twins! Ha-ha-ha! Uhhh, sorry."
M3: "Yeah, I know"
Double your pleasure, double your fun.
Congrats on Twins(!)
Happy Family Day! And I've been following along ever since a few days before your referral ... wow, time does fly.
ReplyDeleteSeems like just yesterday "Team Salsa" was in China...
Wonderful to look back 5 years ago (like it was yesterday) to the day you held Ro and Ree for the first time. And then to think of all the amazing fun, love and adventures in the past 5 years: WOW! You have such a beautiful family and you are a terrific mom! Congratulations - keep on enjoying each day to the fullest. Love you,
ReplyDeleteAunt Jane
There is no memory as sharp as the moment you get "the call". The next few days (years?) are a blurrr. Congratulations! Adopting is so much easier than birthing, and just as satisfying!
ReplyDeletexoxo - ItzDebz!
It has been such a pleasure watching your family come together and grow. :)
ReplyDelete5 years ago today you WERE a mom.. Just waiting to hold them-- but they were your daughters! :0)
ReplyDeleteHappy Family Day! Ours is coming up too! Jamie
ReplyDeleteHappy belated family day! I'm sure you will always remember the pre-twinado days but you wouldn't want to go back to that life for anything.
ReplyDeleteI remember that day. I remember being on vacation in Montana and getting the video that you guys had gotten your referral, watching it and crying. My hostess, Kate, who didn't even know the story, and SHE was crying by the end of it.
ReplyDeleteWho'd have thunk those tiny, round little girls with what my daughter calls "fwahs" (flyaway, all over the place baby hair) and their big eyes would become the rock stars they are today?
Well, we all did, but you get my point.
Congratulations, M3.
XOXO

Happy 5th Family Day! I've been reading your blog and enjoying the exploits of Ree and Ro for nearly 4 years now...since we too returned from China with twin girls. It's amazing to think how quickly they grow.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful family. Congratulations!
