TubaDad was playing in an outdoor concert, so we packed up the crew, got some picnic stuff and wine (ok, I guess I was the only one who packed wine), and cheered him on. There might have been a few loud “More tuba!!!” exclamations, but really there’s no way to tell where those came from.
See the big shiny tuba in the back row on the far right?
Later we had a refreshing dip in the pool. We got this aircraft-carrier sized turtle in Hawaii, and managed to smuggle him home in a suitcase. The cousins (and pretty much every other kid in the pool) were THRILLED to see him.
By the way, despite my heroic efforts to name him something else, Ro and Ree persist in called the green dude “Turtie.” Can I just tell you that we have received our share of strange looks when one or more of the children is screaming what sounds like “Turd!!! Turdie in the pool!!! Look at Turdie!!”
Which reminds me of another naming snafu. We were trying to decide where to meet for dinner and my mom said “I want to go this one on 2nd Street, Bigger and Better.” Naturally (heh) I thought that was the name of the place. Didn’t even occur to me that she was just describing it – I mean really it’s not a bad name, you’d never forget it right? Imagine my surprise when the restaurant turned out to be named Fiesta something or other. Whatev. I still think Bigger and Better makes a very catchy name (see how nice it looks after a little Photoshopping? Hee):
Bon voyage to the cousins. Hope you had a fun visit and Happy Bday to cousin Mar.
Love your new Bulletin Boards!
ReplyDeleteHugz to all!
Debbz
Aw thanks sweetie!! I had you in mind when I did the new header, kept thinking "Debbz is going love that the snowflakes are finally gone!"
DeleteIt's perfect!
DeleteI'm teaching second grade next year! Any great ideas you can send from the girl's class would be much appreciated!

Love the new header! And I agree, "Bigger and Better" is an awesome name for a restaurant :)
ReplyDelete*snort!* Turdie in da pool! Ya, I can see why you'd try to swing them a different way! Oh well, it will make for fun stories when they get older!
ReplyDeleteLooks like such fun at TD's concert! More tuba!!
Glad you had such a great time with the cousins! Chez Salsa is an amazing place to visit!! :o)
Love the new header? Did Wela make the twirly dresses?
ReplyDeleteTell us about your trip to Hawaii.
Thanks! The dresses are from Carters (last year we'll be able to buy from there I think), and I keep looking at the TONS of pics from Hawaii and groaning. Ugh. Why didn't I put them up as the trip unfolded? I might try to pick one fave from each day and just put up one post.
DeleteThat is so funny! Fiesta "something or other" is one of our go-to fav restaurants (love the courtyard). I did a doubletake at the picture because it looked so familiar :) Do you guys go there often?
ReplyDeleteThis was my first visit, but my folks have been there before. It was good!!
DeletePerhaps you would like to adopt a live tortoise. Here in Arizona, they are available free through the Game & Fish department. Perhaps in California, too . . .
ReplyDeleteOkay... I am laughing so hard about the turtle, because when I was just a little older than Ro and Ree my sister and I had the same one. When I saw the first picture of it I started laughing thinking "that's funny they have the same one... but I'm sure they named it something better than Christine(my sister) and I did." and THEN I just absolutely lost it when I read that they named it Turdie, because so did we. And I'm sure the looks you got were on par with the ones we used to get. Hilarious. I guess the turtle just begs for that name, haha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, love the new header! So glad the snowflakes are gone. :)
Hey, you were in my neck of the woods! We go to "Fiesta something or other" all the time. :)
ReplyDeleteChicken mole...mmmmmm!
