I didn’t know summer was coming so quickly

Sat down and counted today and apparently Ro and Ree only have FIFTEEN days left of second grade. Whoa...

They, as expected, are beyond excited for summer vacation and asked me to make them a little countdown calendar for the fridge. Well you know I had to have a little fun with it.

Microsoft Word - SummerCountdown.doc

They loved it. If you want to make your own countdown calendar, I created this one in MS Word using the table function and clipart I found using Google images.

The girls are signed up for three week-long summer camps (half-day camps, because we like to chill out in the summer). They’re doing circus camp, video game design camp, and fashion design camp. Cool! And then we’ll take one big family trip somewhere (we’d like to travel more, but it just doesn’t jive with TubaDad’s business schedule).

Alrighty, fifteen days to go...

    1. Doesn't it?!!! They're so excited.

(I noticed on your profile it says trapeze - that's one of the things they'll learn in camp and can't wait to get on it.)

    2. I didn't get to try trapeze until I was an adult. I remember as a kid I'd see advertisements for club med and their trapeze but I never had the opportunity to go. Trapeze is so much fun!

    1. Me too! I did a bunch of research, gave them a big list of everything that was avail, and told them to pick three. Circus, game design, and fashion design were the unanimous faves.

I've still got the list in case they start to get antsy and want to pick up something else this summer.

  3. We have 8.5 days, and don't they know it! We're doing Inventors Camp and Pottery Wheel Camp, plus the all-family retreat to the mountains and lakes of Deep Creek, Maryland. I've been saving our monthly Magic School Bus Science Club experiments, so it's a Summer of Science!! And swimming. Lots and lots of swimming. We should go to bed NOW, so we'll be rested up by then.

Here in town we have the most awesome school called Circus Juventas - they have circus classes all year long and put on the most amazing productions. I wish Tess wanted to do that. Have fun!

I notice they have two separate class parties on the calendar. Did you separate them this year? Just curious!

    1. Yes, separate classrooms this year for the first time and it has worked out really well so we're doing it again next year.

  6. Circus camp?! Oh! What fun that must be. Learning to walk the high wire, are they? Or will they prefer being shot from a cannon? Just joking...although my girls would no doubt love the high wire...arg!

Glad to hear Ro and Ree enjoyed being in separate classes. My Ellie and Grace went into separate kindergarten classes this year (school policy) and have thrived from it.

    Have a great summer, Jennifer
