Did we really do all of that in one day? (Thurs recap)

Yes, yes, I'm a day behind in my blog posting, oh well. Here's what happened yesterday. (Was it only yesterday? Unbelievable.) We started on the road trip at 8:29am, which is incrediblyamazinglyearly for our family: DSC02451 Then, ahem, after we turned around and retrieved something that I left at home, we restarted the trip at 8:35. Crimony. DSC02452 The lapdesks worked like a charm. I had stuffed them so full of goodies that we barely heard a peep out of the girls the entire trip. Oh, and we didn't even have to break out the Grey's Anatomy DVDs until the last hour in stop-and-go LA traffic. They're watching one of the shows in this pic, and for the folks who asked, their two favorite shows are the one in season 2 where there's a train wreck and the person comes running into the ER holding a severed leg and Christina says "I want that leg!" and the one in season 2 where the elevator doors don't open and George has to perform heart surgery in the elevator. Ah, good stuff: DSC02474 There was snow on the grapevine. SNOW!! Holy cow: DSC02472 We got to the hotel, threw our bags into the room, and jumped right back in the car to go see D2/K2/H2/S2. Poor folks had arrived only minutes before we descended upon them and then asked them to come out immediately for a little late-evening Disneyland. The kiddos were all game, and we had so much fun: DSC02479m It was so great to be there when there were NO crowds. Wow. We hardly waited in any lines at all. This might be a good time to mention that Ree is in the purple, Ro is in the pink, S2 is in the pink dotted skirt, and H2 is in the black leggings: DSC02481_LR The first ride was a rocketship that went pretty high in the air if you ask me. Yipes. We hadn't taken the time to unpack the D300, so all the pics tonight were taken with the purse camera, which struggled a bit: DSC02488_LR We also hit the carousel (see both sets of twins holding hands?): DSC02513_LR We took advantage of the light crowds to get on the yellow submarine ride (don't know the real name, but that's what Ro calls it), rode Dumbo once or twice (it's all starting to blur together), and Ro and Ree also got really brave and went on Mr Toad's Wild Ride and the Pinocchio's Daring Adventure. That just wouldn't have happened last year. Tiny little adventurers are just eating up Disneyland this year. They've already asked if we can stay 10 days. Next up, Day 2 at Disneyland, our first full day at the park. I won't get that post up tonight, because that pillow is calling my name, but here's a little teaser: DSC_0586LR-2 Night all.

  2. A million cool points for having toddlers that will watch Greys Anatomy, followed by a questiion: the sex scenes, adult language and story line, followed by gore: How do you deal with that???

  3. Well done, indeed! I'm a huge fan of Disneyland (live 40 minutes away and have a season pass), so I understand what a triumph it is to be there with no lines! And I salute you for going with so many young children-- sometimes it's crazy enough with a whole bunch of college students...

  6. I know you are on vacation, but I have to ask! LOL Where did you get the lap desks you use in the car? We have a 24 hour van trip to Disney in a few months and I want a lapdesk that will easily stay on my daughter's lap. Thanks!

  12. Ahhh...Disney! No place on earth like it! Fun times, especially with no crowds. The only time I hit Disneyland it was like that and I was able to go on every ride I wanted in the 4 hours I was there. Such fun!

So fun to hear how much more the girls are enjoying it this year and how much more adventurous they are! Enjoy! Looking forward to your next post.

  13. I am a total 100% lurker (for years now), but I had to leave a comment, because we saw you there! At the bumper cars in California Adventure, and then again in that swing/zipline Bear area. I wanted to come up to you guys, but thought you would think I was crazy. Anyway, we live in the bay area, and I thought it was funny that I would see you all the way in SoCal. Glad you had fun! 15. Thanks guys! We're having so much fun. I don't have time to do a blog post tonight, because we just got back to the hotel, so here are a few quick answers to the questions:

Mama-Beans: The girls are (at this point) oblivious to all the adult stuff. They love the characters and the surgery scenes. We fast-forward through any steamy scenes, and as for the blood/gore, they know it's all pretend (a recent concept that they finally get) and special effects. We pause the show on great scenes and explain exactly how the tv folks do the special effects.

Julie P and Sheryl: The lapdesks were from Amazon.com. I wrote up a bunch of stuff, including ordering details, here.

Jamie: We'll be at Disney again tomorrow -- if you see us, please stop by, we'd love to talk to you!!
