We packed up the pooch and headed to the airport yesterday to pick up Catherine and Hannah (Catherine’s Chatter), our BFFs from Canada. Not sure if Catherine was more surprised to see a dog at the airport or the two tall big girls who were waiting to greet her.
Swapped big hugs, then started playing immediately. Well, immediately after a few emergency nuggets to stave off starvation:
We hit the pool right away (it is BLAZING hot here right now):
While there, we were joined by our second out-of-town visitors, the Family H with twins H2 and S2 (No More Work Than One) – awesome! We offered to get out of the pool and meet them somewhere nice for dinner, but shockingly the kiddos all wanted to swim instead:
We celebrated Canada Day with a little cake (Ro found the directions online and we just had to make it for our buddies from the north). Can you tell it’s a Canadian flag with maple leaf? I’m not sure strawberry art is my forte:
Today we didn’t just hide from the insane heat, we fled from it. All the way to nice, cool Monterey. Ahhhhh. It’s never hot at the aquarium:
The beach was oh-so-pleasant. Had I not been sweltering in 100+ temps this week I might have even called it “chilly.” Not today though, today I called it “blessedly cool.”
A little late-night swimming (I think it finally cooled down to 90). I haven’t yet heard one of these kids turn down swimming. Wonder if they’ll get tired of it? Yeah right...:
Then some popsicles and bed:
Tomorrow Catherine has agreed to accompany me purse shopping. Ha!!! Please wish poor, longsuffering Catherine luck... Oh, and I’m going to try to capture the elusive 10-open-eyes-5-smiles kid pic. Rarely seen in the wild, as evidenced by the great number of backs of heads that I captured today. I believe D2 and Catherine caught one or two, if you want to check out their blogs, No More Work Than One, and Catherine’s Chatter.
The pictures of 5 girls are great. How is Dusty enjoying all of the activity?

He loves all the people (and especially K2 who he instantly recognized as a dog lover), but he wondered why on earth we left him alone for so long yesterday. He recovered with some extra attention and treats.
DeleteI wish Catherine luck with the purse shopping! I actually remember her lengthy post about the last time you two when to buy a purse. If I remember correctly after everything was said and done, the purse was returned! She was so sweet describing the event in the kindest way and deserved a medal! Please please let us know how it goes this time around. Go easy on her M3!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck ladies!
Keep the pictures coming, they are wonderful! The kids are beautiful!

I have to find the link to that purse post. I remember that I almost peed reading it last time it was so dang funny (and true).
DeleteI know!! I felt like I was right there suffering along with her!!!! And she did it in such a nice way! I hope you find the post, it was a classic!

OK, I've got to ask...did Ro & Ree miss out on the stuffed animal purchase shown on H2 & S2's blog? Lol! They don't look pleased! Ha! Do share the story behind that one!
ReplyDeleteOh funny, they did miss out on the stuffed animal purchase but they got to buy sparkly necklaces instead so they were cool (at least until Ro's broke and lost the turtle, ugh). They just didn't want a pic taken right then.
DeleteHa! I was wondering what had happened. Good to know!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how each set of twins stays together with her sister. Different from last year.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having great fun. I noticed in a photo on your blog and even better on their family blog that H2 and S2 split their pairs of shoes up, with each girl wearing one shoe from each pair. My girls do the same thing.
