We heart reading

It’s hard to beat the excitement of new magazines, catalogs, and library books all arriving on the same day.

PS: Ree was trying to explain how much her sister likes books (which is a lot): “Ro likes books like, um, mmmm, um, oh!, Ro likes books like I like shoes!” Heh, quite accurate.

Hi M3 - one of my close friends' daughter is Danica McKellar - TV star and brilliant mathemetician. She was a math major at UCLA and has a published theorem that she authored. She is on Dancing with the Stars right now. She writes books for little girls explaining math in terms that are fun without talking down to them. Her mission in life is to empower little girls to become unafraid of math and scientific concepts. You might look them up on Amazon - I bought them for my niece starting around age 7 or 8 I think. She has a brilliant series you can find now on You Tube that the girls might enjoy. Full of action, characters and funny things they will know. She is explaining basic math concepts. Just plunk "Danica McKellar math tutorials" into You Tube and you can find them. When the time comes for the girls to be ready for basic math explanations, I'll see if I can get her to sign a few books and I'll send if you would like.

So, reading must not be relaxing? I find reading to be incredibly relaxing, but your previous blog says the girls hate relaxing :).

  3. Hi! We like reading at our house too! Marin's current favorite is "Press Here". You guys going anywhere fun for Spring Break? And, oh yeah, I'm nosy....what is that white stuff in the silver bowl on the table? Whipped cream, maybe? But then again, I like food so much, I think everything is food. ;)

    1. Oh funny - that's our napkin holder, so it's just a bunch of white napkins. :-)

For this next break we're planning to go to Monterey. How about you guys?

  4. Ahhh, see, I told you I had food on the brain. Napkins are good too though. :) We aren't taking a spring trip this year (bummer). We went on a totally spur of the moment New Year trip to the beach & Disney & blew our vacation budget! Ha! So, now we are waiting till summer. Marin's in a million things right now (2 different sets of hockey skating lessons, plus his Acro & Hip Hop), so we are staying busy. Plus, next we have to start paying school tuition! Ha! That puts a crimp in the ole funds, huh? He starts Kindergarten in August!

  5. Long time reader - looking forward to any top tips from you for Monterey. We are coming over the pond this summer & plan to have a couple of days there (amongst many other places!)

Love to see the girls loving reading!
