Little Ree is having a good week

On Friday I snuck up to her room after bedtime and whispered "Pssst, Ree, do you want to go downstairs with me for a few minutes?" She sat bolt upright in bed and yelled "WHAT you say?!" Little cutie was thrilled to get her own girl time while the rest of the house snoozed (TubaDad was snoring insanely loud under the book he meant to be reading and Ro was out cold). We made special "Night Cookies" in our PJs and she hasn't stopped talking about it since. Ree couldn't believe she got to make night cookies It's hard to beat the fun of cracking eggs Then we went over to my folks' house for dinner where she got to ride on my old tricycle. And she finally got the hang of pedaling (something that has been bugging the crap out of her since Ro mastered the skill a week ago). Ree's first time pedaling! (with a little push from her sister) The reason we got the (cough, choke) 40-year-old bike out was because it has the old-fashioned pedals that move when the wheel moves (instead of the new-fangled ratcheting pedals that the girls' trikes have). Anyhow, Ree had been struggling with the other bikes, and this one finally made it all click. Here's the picture of her first success on three wheels, with faithful Rosie giving a push (and me in the background ready to catch her, which was completely unnecessary, clearly I would have been much better off using those hands to hold a wineglass).
