Ho, ho, ho, we're not scared of the man in red this year!

Thanks to everyone who voted in the Santa picture poll. The final results of the voting were:
  • 19% of folks thought we ended up with "Screaming, just like we have come to love and expect."
  • 2% of folks thought "The girls made Santa cry." (I realized after I did this poll that I should have written "The girls made ME cry" instead, then I bet this choice would have gotten a lot of votes, haha).
  • 32% of folks thought "The girls fought for the best side of the lap and Ro knocked Ree off the lap in mid-picture." Ok, this one didn't actually happen but it SO could have. In fact, it's almost a daily occurrence in this house.
  • And 46% thought "TubaDad planted thoughts of bribery in their heads so the girls ran to Santa, plopped in his lap, and said "cheese!" This was, in fact, what really happened. The Santa throne was really close to a candy store (ah how fortuitous), and at the last second TubaDad brilliantly pointed to the store and whispered -- that's all it took. Ro and Ree practically shoved us out of the way to get on that big red lap. They smiled sweetly, waited for the camera to click, then hopped off, sprinted to the candy store, and kind of frantically asked the saleslady "You have candy neckiss?!!!" (candy necklace) Thank goodness they did...

(Ree left, Ro right): Wahhhhhhh, we don't love Santa yet (2006) One kinda funny story, when TubaDad and I decided to take the girls to see Santa a couple of weeks ago, we just got in the car and went. Turns out it was lunchtime and the girls were starving, so we spent the first half hour at the mall warding off imminent disaster as the girls scarfed hot gooey pizza in their white sweaters. You should have seen the gyrations we went through to catch dropped pizza in midair, wipe up oozing red sauce before it adhered to any clothing, and ineffectively try to protect the front of their sweaters with tiny cheap napkins. It felt like everyone in the food court was laughing at us, but we figured we were just imagining it and no one was really looking at us. Well I nearly fell over today (two weeks later and nowhere near the mall) when a sweet elderly Walmart greeter waved at the girls and me then laughed and said "Hey I saw you guys at xxx mall! You were all eating pizza, heh heh heh."

  1. So glad it went better for you this year - what a perfect picture for 2008! And, I do have to say that I like this year's "Santa" the best. He looks closest to the "real" thing!

  4. Those early Santa pictures just make me howl LOL...So cute. Amazing that they are already at an age where you can bribe them effectively. It has gone so quickly.

Yep, you made quite the pizza impression it seems ;0)

  5. The howling Santa photos... ah, yes. I remember those days. And I remember the triumph I felt when we finally achieved smiles. Who cares if it takes bribes? It's all about results!

  7. Ah bribery....it's a good thing! Glad the girls enjoyed their visit with Santa, albeit a brief visit this year. There were candy neckiss' to be found and that took top billing!

Fun pic of the girls although must admit the first and second ones still makes me smile. Bad Cafrin!

Hope your Christmas plans and preparations are coming along well! What fun it will be to see the girls rip into their prezzies this year! 3 is just about the best age there is when it comes to Christmas IMHO!

  8. Too funny! I know how that goes, I still throw a bib on my girls when they're all dressed up. Way to go at keeping their cute sweaters white!
That way my guess, they grow up too fast!

Our girls reacted like your sweet girls in the first photo. LilyKate was okay until Eleanor started screaming and then she joined in too! I guess it's par for the course. Ree and Ro get cuter by the second and looking so grown up!

    That's adorable!

I've been showing the photos to the Cupcakes in the hope that they will be inspired to sit on Santa's lap this year.

Right now all they tell me is 'I no like Christmas (Santa Claus). I like reindeer.)

  17. Oh gosh! I love the newest photo but I'll miss the charming old days too!

We still have the last two years Christmas Cards on display right here in the playroom where G & M can see them and shower them with empathy (they hated the Jolly Fat Man until recently too).

But this year is all about "Change". Right?

Do we know TubaDad or do we know TubaDad? :)

So happy to see them happy. They've got a few good "Santa" years ahead of them, so it's nice they won't spend them screaming their little heads off.

  25. Hi Karmen, Ro is wearing Hannah Andersson tights. They have THE BEST tights. This particular pair is a beloved hand-me-down and they are getting so small I could barely squeeze her into them. Hannah Andersson's motto is something like "tights you can actually hand down" and I have to say it's true. They really last. Anyhow, they have online stores and are also in some malls.
