A spot of color on a gray, rainy day

Ro and Ree just came back from a grocery trip with daddy and were bubbling over with excitement. They couldn't wait to show me the "chockit, yots of chockit" they bought for me. Little sweeties. I stuffed a morsel of chocolate in my mouth (oh who am I kidding, you all know it was way more than a morsel), then asked if I could take a picture of them in their cute outfits and rainboots. And they started making these funny poses. Dang, they make me laugh. They are always so bright, boisterous, fun, and funny -- just what we need to brighten up a rainy day. Ro left, Ree right Ro left, Ree right Ro left, Ree right Ro left, Ree right Ro left, Ree right (Ro in pink, Ree in green)

  3. Thanks!
The little sweater dresses are from The Children's Place. I got them sometime back before Christmas because I remember that Ree was wearing the pink dress in one of the girls' many stalking Santa photos this year.

  6. m3, long time lurker, mom of 4 i from china, was reading your q and a and justed wanted to give you my 2 cents, you don't give yourself enough credit, a great mom is one who knows when it's time for a mommy time out lots of people never figure that out and also the fact that you are willing to appologise to your kids and tell them you'll try harder next time is huge, my oldest is 12 and it took me much longer then two years to figure out the value of letting the kids kids know mommy and daddy are people too and we make mistakes just like little ones.
smile you are a GREAT mom, now go and have a piece of chocolate
    from one mom to another

  7. oh how sweet!!!

So, I have to ask. How the HECK do you get the girls to wear such cute outfits all the time? My little tomboy won't wear anything but jeans and too-small T-shirts. I know I could get rid of them, but she just isn't into dressing up. I would LOVE to actually get some wear out of the beautiful dresses she owns...rather than once or twice a year on picture day!

Ree reminds me of Mae. I love your blog so much! So much love going on! And chocolate too! Mmm...

  8. Just way too cute!! Those outfits are a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!! I tell you, your kidlets make and rainy day brighter with their amazing, bright personalities! How was the come-down from the chockit high? Sometimes more chockit helps to ease the pain.

PS - Feeling slightly guilty that the matching pink boots are upstairs in Hannah's room. Sorry Ree...but your pink fuzzie boots rock!!

  9. Hey Ellen: Aw, thanks! :-) Ro and Ree just aren't picky (for now) so I get to have fun, fun, fun with their wardrobes. Sometimes I let them pick out their own outfits, sometimes I hand them what I'd like them to wear, and sometimes I ask what color they each want and whether they want a skirt or pants and then grab a couple of things out of the closet that work. They're pretty much ok with anything. Ree has more of an opinion that Ro and will frequently pick out her outfit and Ro's to go along with it, which kind of cracks me up. And to tell the truth Ree has better style than I do -- she always picks things that are more interesting that I would have picked. It'll be interesting to see what happens when they get older.

    Huh?
I *want* one of those dresses for ME!
(Oh well - maybe I'll just have to knit one.)
See you all *soon!* Hope our day at the park isn't too rainy.

You know, you could tell from the first photos of the girls in China that they were going to be happy little girls full of personality and spunk.

  17. We have the green version of that sweater dress. The first time I put in on Mary Joyce, she was wearing jeans and informed me that it was a dress and she needed tights instead. The dress was her 3rd birthday party outfit, and thankfully we had some white tights that looked okay with it. Love the pictures! (And the outfits were at CP back in November or so, because said birthday was in December.)

  20. Hey, Alayna has the same pink polka dot dress. She got it for Christmas this year. I always thought it was too fancy for every day wear but it looks really great and casual with jeans. I'm going to have to give it a try. Alayna's a total girly girl-why wear only one dress when you can layer 3. But I agree, you do dress those whirling dervishes well!

  21. How cute! My two girls have those same dresses. I always forget who has the green one and who has the pink one (and mine aren't even twins). Good thing my daughters seem to know which one is theirs.
