Sticks and stones

I don't know why we even bother to buy games and toys. Ro and Ree can play for hours with a little pile of rocks and sticks. Our birch tree has been dropping branches all week — the lawn is littered with twigs — and the girls are in hog heaven. DSC_4652 DSC_4647 DSC_4621 DSC_4625 DSC_4628 DSC_4635 It's in the smokin' hot nineties here today, so if anyone's looking for us, we'll be keeping cool at the pool. Cheers!

  1. Cheers to you too! We'll be there in spirit hangin' at our pool. It's been getting awful warm here too.
Love the sticks. We just discovered sticks and now we have to pick all of them up when we're out walking:-)

  5. Maggie would get along with Ree and Ro REALLY well because she never wants to play with her toys either! We spent the week at Disney last week and with the tons of Disney stuff we bought Mag there, all she wants to play with are the coasters I bought!

  7. Great pics! (as usual) The girls look great. Would you mind sharing where you purchased those tops and hair bands? Lil R would look fabulous in that cornflower blue. Love it. Thanks.

  9. Mahmee: Thanks! The tops are hand-me-downs from The Children's Place (http://www.childrensplace.com) so they're a couple of years old now, but they have some really nice bright stuff in their new summer collection. I just love that place. The flower hairbands, ooo that's a hard one, I got them at one of the local drugstores and can't remember which one. Maybe it was Longs? Sorry... If I figure it out I'll post it.

  13. My kids spent the better part of today making a fort in the forest out of old brush we had planned to burn. Then they took the hay from last year from the field and piled it on the ground to make "beds". ALL DAY they did this. My boys also have "rock collections" in their room that they play with all the time, naming the rocks and playing with them. Who needs toys?

  20. Themandus: Thanks! The outfits are from all over the place today -- which I guess is kind of typical of the outfits around here. :-) The flower hairbands are from a local drugstore (Long's I think), the pink and purple tops are hand-me-downs made by Children's Place, the orange/pink skirt is a hand-me-down made by Hannah Andersson, the light purple skirt is from Walmart, the pink shoes are Jellies from Old Navy, and the silver shoes are from Target.

  21. Adorable outfits on your two cutie-pies! Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the mid 80s here, so Pi can FINALLY pick from her summer clothes! Hallelu!

And today, she picked up a rock and named it Baby Samantha - who is asleep on the sofa next to me right now. Who needs dolls?!

  22. You lucky ducks! It's cold and rainy here! Not that it ever really gets into the 90's here ... ok maybe a few times in July.
