Yesterday hit 80 degrees, and today it's pouring rain

But a little rain doesn't stop the girls from putting on their swimsuits and dancing around the house. I got a new white photography background this weekend (the dream is that I'm going to shoot the girls' Easter photos instead of taking them to a camera-on-a-pole studio — yikes wish me luck!). So I promised the would-be swimmers a jellybean if they'd let me try the new background out on them. I haven't gotten any lighting yet, and it's pretty dark out today, so these photos don't look quite the way I'd like, but they still make me grin. Here are Ro (in pink) and Ree (in purple), wishing like heck for some sunshine:

Little cuties. Now if only the weather would cooperate so the girls, and their new swimsuits, could plunge into the pool!

PS: If anyone owns an Easter bunny suit, what would we have to bribe you with to don it and stop by for a little photo op? Ok, ok, more realistically, does anyone have any creative Easter picture ideas I can try? PSPS: I need to update the Random Questions in the sidebar, so if you've got a question, please ask it! If we end up with a bunch of questions, I'll just do a whole post of answers.

You haven't commented in a while how the girls are different and similar. It is now possible, at least for me, to tell them apart (their smiles are different and a few other things that help me) but I have been curious if they have different or similar interests and things they like to do. Not developmental similarities and differences but how they distinguish themselves from one another.

  2. I just started following your blog and wanted to say "hi!" We brought home our daughter from China last may and also have a blog.

I just wanted to say how cute your girls are (but of course you already know that). And I love the picture of them looking at their belly buttons. Too cute.

Feel free to stop by my blog sometime.

  3. Maybe you have a friend who will let you borrow a live bunny, instead of a stuffed one. Those pics are always cute. :)

  6. I lurve the idea of a live bunny instead of the scary 'real' bunny. The girls seems to have hit a growth spurt again is this true or just the pictures?

I am interested in what type of background you just purchased and the lighting. I 'hate' those camera on a pole places.... THANKS! Appreciate you sharing a slice in your life. Your girls are darling and you can tell you are a loving and wonderful Mommy.

  8. I have a question.

Do you have 2 of everything like we do? And if now how do you deal with the girls and "sharing".

We literally have to have 2 of everything and it is starting to be a bit MUCH.

Also, do you use a external flash or do you have great natural light in your house? (we have crap light, so pics inside are impossible with my dslr)

  9. Fifteen years ago my doctor had a huge egg on legs with a big hole in the front of it and you'd sit inside feeling like Mork having your ears tested. I always thought they should hire it out for Easter pictures.

  10. Along the lines of the 2nd "Anonymous", how do you keep from getting shadows behind them? My camera flash automatically drops heavy shadows on the background and you don't appear to have any. How big are these backgrounds? I noticed the bright orange canvas a few posts ago. Where do you store them?
Oh, and these questions are too boring for the sidebar, I was just seeking info!

    Thanks,
    Heather

Are you going to adopt in the future?
LOVE your bento posts. Is that an everyday occurrence (bento lunches)?
What happened to your referral youtube video?
Ikea has a chair that looks like an easter egg...i always thought that if someone painted them with easter colors and sat their kids in them, they would be way cute! Just a thought!

  12. I can't wait to see what you do for their Easter pics....I wish I didn't live on the East Coast.....my Sister In Law owns a bunny outfit and it is adorable....we appoint someone different each year to wear it for the family easter egg hunt!! We would have loved to stop by for a photo op:)

The pics look great with the white backdrop....you would never know it was dark out! Ro and Ree look more than ready for a plunge in the pool!

I think it would be cute with all the plastic eggs scattered on the white background....maybe the fake Easter grass in clumps around too!

  14. ack! The belly button shot is so cute! I need to try and do that with my daughter. :) I would love to hear more about your little at home photo studio and how you avoid shadows... and what that white backdrop is made out of. Is it fabric that you bought or a commercial product?

  15. Oh my, as always these pics are great and Ro and Ree are just to darned cute! Gotta love it! Always makes me smile! Cute little suits! I agree, if only the weather would cooperate, then again, your weather is probably alot more cooperative then our still 40 degree weather up here in WI. Ugh. I LOVE the white background and would love to know where you get something like that! Can't wait to see easter pics. Here's hoping for some warmer swimming weather for Ro, Ree (and there swimsuits!) soon!

  16. Another camera question. So, what small camera do you usually go out with?

And I'd love to know what the white backgroud is? Fabric and does it hang from the ceiling?

    Thanks

  17. ok-- i too am now just telling them apart-- is ree the sassy one-- her smile is mischievious- i think if i remember right that she was a bit more adventurous with her clothing choices as well-- ro's smile is more demure -- and she had the cute green outfit last week- or am i mixing it all up?

  18. Hey, one of those suits looks familiar! :) It looks like it fits pretty well. Not too huge on her.

How freaky was the weather today? I kept scratching my head and saying "Wasn't it yesterday that we were in the pool?" Weird.

  19. i have a suggestion as to what you should do for the easter pictures. maybe you can use different props. easter eggs? they sell those big inflatable easter eggs and you can get the girls to hold it and pose or buy a lot of those small plastic ones and get them to stand in it or lay in them. that would be really cute!

First of all I LOVE reading your blog.

My question-do you plan on working outside of the home once the girs are in school full time?

    Great swimsuits.

  22. You can rent a bunny to come to your house...they may even bring a live one too...highly recommended. Also you could buy some baby chicks or get a pretty good fake one at target. I love big colorful suckers, easter baskets with colorful eggs, pinwheels in various colors, also flowers, fake or real...hope that helps.

  23. Also in our area you can rent a bunny costume too. That seems a bit hard...who could fit in one, but an idea.

  24. Cute suits! They fit perfectly!! The belly shots are precious! This rain is wild, can't believe we were pool side on Monday!

  25. They are so great. You are very brave to try a "rea photo op". It would be fun, and I am sure yours will be successful, I am just imaging what it would be like around here. We too hit 71 yesterday, but rain is in the forcast today.

  26. I'm also interested in what's contained within your at home photo studio. Details please

  27. I love the pictures of the girls, the camera loves them! For an easter pocture ummmm... is there a farm nearby where you can borrow a couple of baby chicks?

    ReplyDelete
  28. What about a live bunny photo shoot? Our local farm used to do it and I couldn't wait till I got my girl...once she was home, they no longer do it...so disappointed! I love the bandaid on the knee! My poor daughters come to me with boo-boos and I remind them they have 3 older brothers and if it isn't hanging by a vein, I probably won't get worked up about it! Can't wait to see how the photo shoot goes! Good luck!

  29. You have to show me how to take photos, you are so good!!!
I have a question! What do you do with all the clothes and shoes that no longer fit your little ones? I don't have the heart to give them away. Daddy thinks I'm crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  30. What about baby chicks? I also like the idea of live rabbits. More than one though. Several. The girls would love it!

  31. LOL they're so cute.

  32. Great photos!! How about a picture with a ton of feathers? Or a real bunny?

    Good luck!

  34. How about giving them easter eggs to play with?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Here's a question...I also have a 3 column blog...how do you get your pics w/i your post to be the larger size they are? I choose the largest option when I upload them to blogger, but they are still considerably smaller then yours are! Just wondering! Thanks!

  36. I am thinking of something that puts the focus on Easter Bonnets, maybe something with over sized bows??

Or one girl helping the other tie the bow in the back of her Easter dress?

Hanging eggs from a potted (or fake) tree?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous4/10/2009

Buy a cute flower pot, put a tree branch and have them hang easter eggs, or gumdrops, or something else really cute from it...

Get one of the live baby chicks from a farming pet store, and have them take pictures with the baby chick... then put the chic on craigslist for free!

    Paint easter eggs?

buy BIG baskets and put easter grass in the baskets and let them sit in the baskets with orange bucket.

have them wear white and all accessories be white and then just have the colored eggs...
