It's "daddy comes home" day
Ro reminded me last night that we were supposed to eat cookie dough for breakfast this morning, since it was "daddy comes home" day. Oops. A quick trip to the grocery store and we were all set for our business-trip tradition.
Fly fast TubaDad!
By the way, if you turn the fridge dial up a few notches, the cookie dough gets really hard and the kiddos can hack away at it for a good 10 minutes without really getting any, even though they think they're scoring big. (Man, I'm mean.)
Our other trip tradition is that the girls choose a stuffed animal to put in TubaDad's luggage and he sends us pictures of the animal in fun locations every day. Here's what he sent this time. Apparently Ro and Ree chose two animals this time. Dang he's a good sport.

Aww...so cute and Tubadad rocks as usual!!! Great shots of the friends. I'm sure Tubadad will have lots of hugs and kisses to come home to.
ReplyDeleteLove the girls flower shirts!!
Great idea on the cookie dough too.
Very fun tradition! I seem to always have a tub of that stuff in the freezer...of course it may be a few years old at this point...ewwww!
ReplyDeleteFirst...I love your blog. Second, my 2 yr old God-Daughter, who had never eaten raw cookie dough, went into my fridge one day and grabbed some to eat. I asked her were she had learn that it was ok to eat raw cookie dough and she very confidently replied...."Jesus" My husband and I had a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteMy husband ALSO does the pictures for our god-daughter. He is active duty air force and he leaves every other month and is gone for a month traveling the world and visiting the A.E. in each country. The best one was of her rubber ducky on the steps of Air Force One.
What a great tradition you have set up for both ends of the trip. You and Tubadad are both good sports! Your girls will have the best memories!!!
ReplyDeleteWe do the stuffed animal thing too like the cell phone commercial.. however, on one of daddy's trips.. he lost HoHo somewhere between Ohio and North Carolina. He has been back to NC twice since then and Maddy has asked each time if he was going back to find HoHo... ruh roh!
ReplyDeleteThat is just the sweetest thing. He rocks for taking those pics for the girls!
ReplyDeleteMMMM, that sounds like a good idea! But I am pretty sure I would eat all the cookie dough before Eric's plane left the airport (on the way out).
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll put a stowaway in his luggage next time. For April Fools I put a bunch of plastic food in his computer bag but he found it before he left for work.
Oh my god, he took the stuffies to Times Square? and a business meeting?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous dad you have, Ro and Ree! (But we knew that, right?)
TubaDad is AWESOME!!! Hope he gets home soon and safely!
ReplyDeleteTubadad does rock!! Those pictures are so cool!!! You totally need to scrapbook all the pics into one album one day!! The girls would love that when they are older!!! lol
ReplyDeleteTubaDad is such a good sport! I had to laugh seeing him at the meeting holding Fluffy Nanni. I could just picture whoever is taking the photo (I'm assuming someone is taking it) wondering what the heck is this great businessman doing with this stuffed bear?!? Or his business associates seeing him pull out the teddy to take the photo...does it help close the deal?
ReplyDeleteStill smiling about it...
Awesome tip re: hard cookie dough!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of the stuffed animals are classic - such a fun idea.
What a great daddy. The girls must look forward to seeing these picture.
ReplyDeleteSusan
you're the coolest mom ever!!!
ReplyDeleteMmmm...cookie dough for breakfast! That's a treat but so much more what it stands for....Daddy's coming home!!! Looks like daddy and the friends had a great trip! So happy you're under one roof again...the best gift of all.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby rocks. It is so cool that he does that for his girls. What a good sport.
ReplyDeleteAnd is it bad that I want my DH to start traveling so I can have cookie dough breakfast as well?!?
The New York and Long Island photos made me homesick. That's a great idea to do those pictures. I should do something like that for April, too since I travel so much.
ReplyDeleteIlene, mommy to April Lauren, 41 months
What a fab tradition. And I will try the hard freezing, not for the kids but me. I need every trick I can to get me to think I am getting more than I am getting.
ReplyDeleteYou two are the best Parents!
ReplyDeleteTubadad is the best...those pictures are great!! I saw a Dad doing this while I was in the airport in Louisville!!
ReplyDeleteHope you all enjoyed the cookie dough!!
Have a Happy Mother's Day!

ReplyDeletePlease know that I have informed the proper authorities about your cruelty, and you should expect a call in short order. (They'll probably send that Pillsbury Doughboy guy out again. He'll fix your little red wagon, missy."

What wonderful traditions! And yes, TubaDad most certainly rock (as do you!). :)
