The most popular bento yet

New bento boxes (from Daiso)My mom got us some cute new square bento boxes, so I just had to try them out for lunch today. Oh man, I practically lost a finger getting these lunches down on the table. The girls inhaled everything, I'm not even sure they chewed. They didn't say anything for awhile, except for "mmmm" and "yum" but then they ran out of food and yelled "more food on a stick, mama!" Cute. I'll definitely make this one again. DSC_7025m Avocado, salami, and string cheese kabobs (I stuck the food on big shish-kabob sticks and then cut them shorter to fit in the boxes), dill pickle, baby carrots, pita bread, and blueberries. Only one girl's bento box shown. If you want to see other bento treats the girls have chowed on, they're here.

  5. I found your blog about a week and a half ago, but just decided to say hi! :) I love this bento; it is so colorful, especially for being so kid-friendly!
Oh, and we tried the "fashion friday" idea last week. My silly Alex, I'm not sure she completely understood... She went and put on a skirt, leggings, and shirt that were all from the same line! Lol. Then again, she did wear her sparkly shoes:)

  8. M3,
You make eating so fun! It looks very appetizing, healthy, & fresh. Yum.
Are the Bento products dishwasher safe? How much time do you spend in the kitchen? You probably have it down to a science. Tell us your secrets :).

  10. Hi Dianne, thanks!

I haven't been able to find any BPA numbers related to the bento stuff, so I just assume they need handwashing and I don't microwave food in them.

And let's see, if the bento is a look or ingredients that I've made before, then it takes about 10 minutes (like the next time I make this kabob one will be a breeze since I've already figured out all the pieces). If I'm trying something new or creative, I might spend 20 minutes trying stuff (usually only works if someone else is here to keep the girls occupied). I don't usually cook anything new for the bentos, just usually use leftovers or "convenience" foods that can be microwaved or prepared in a few minutes, so really all the time is in making things look the way I picture them in my head.
