Do I get extra points for taking her out in public like this?
Ree really likes purple and yellow, so she was particularly proud of this outfit she assembed. Sigh...
Yeah, those are monkey slipper-socks, with tails, inside of the sandals. Thanks for asking.
I did tell Ree she should take her socks off before we left for Gilroy Gardens today, but when she balked and said "Why, mama?!" I realized that I didn't have a good reason. I mean, who really cares what I think, she thought her outfit was just the bee's knees and that's what counts. So off we went.

Okay - my first glance at the yellow and purple, I thought - mmm, not bad. The socks.......OMG....that is too much. You are a saint - definite brownie points. :)

Everything was color coordinated. I didn't see a problem with two little monkey tails sneaking out of her shoes.
ReplyDeletewela
Purple and yellow (gold)?
ReplyDeleteThat girl may end up in Baton Rouge at LSU. Geaux Tigers!
Love it
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling those cute little monkey tails sticking out from the sandals caused many to smile today! It's so fun to see what the girls choose to wear...and cudos to mom for letting them! You rock mommy. And besides, outfits like this will make for some great photos at their weddings someday!
ReplyDeleteAhhh hahahaha! That just made my day. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about LSU! Geaux Tigers!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter dresses like that every day, only even more so. I figure they'll only be three for a short time--all too soon, they'll be in middle school and dress just like everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI've learned to go with the flow and as long as the outfit isn't going to be a safety hazard I don't sweat it. Plus, they all look so stinking cute at this age and can get away wearing unique and bizarre and people smile thinking it fun.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE things that are "just bees knees" even when they DON'T make sense!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
I would have said cause your feet will get hot and be stinky but ya' know you are right, what do you care? You did stick a note on her back though so people will know you weren't the one punishing her and she chose to dress like that? All in all though if you want to wear all of your fav colors, why the heck not? cute kiddos with cute personalities.
ReplyDeletejust curious....did the monkey tails stay on all day?

ReplyDeleteYep they stayed on a day -- in freaking 100-degree weather too. Crazy kid. The girls went in the water area at one point, so shoes and socks came off, and then when it was time to get dressed again I only handed Ree the shoes (thinking she'd forgotten all about the dang socks) and she immediately said "Hey! Where my monkey socks?!" so they went back on.
So dang cute - I just love the tails!!!
ReplyDeleteYes-Sir-Ree!! (phonetically spelled just for Ree!!)
ReplyDeleteChocolate brownie points are definitely in order!!! LOL!!! I just love how her personality just SHINES!! Both of them for that matter!! M3, I am sure that YOU sure are proud of those beautiful girls of yours!! We just love visiting your blog to see what Ro an Ree are up to. It also give me a heads up on what to expect in our own future as we watch our Jillian grow!
Before I had kids I would look at kids dressed like her and think how in the world could the mother let her child go out in public dressed like that. Then I had kids of my own.
ReplyDeletePurple and yellow go very well together!
Hi, I have never commented on your blog before, but have been following it for some time now. I just have to tell you that your sweet family and adorable two little girls never fail to brighten my day. You are truly blessed.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey socks were just too funny!! I think you deserve the entire pan of brownies for that!! Good for you:)
ReplyDeleteGood job, momma...monkey socks aren't so bad! I'm sure everyone got a huge kick out of both the girls today! And you all had fun so that's all that matters! =D
ReplyDeleteThe socks are a bit silly, but otherwise, they look like outfits my kids would wear every day.
ReplyDeleteHehe...snort...You are mommy of the year! Monkey socks rock!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've had that "Why Mama?" question before too. I've learned to just go with the flow too!
ReplyDeleteYears ago I saw a mom and her daughter at the grocery store. The little girl was wearing an INSANE outfit put together of dress up clothes, and the mom was just calmly pushing her around the grocery store, doing the shopping. I distinctly remember thinking that mom was AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI just have to know where you got those monkey socks because they are too darn cute!
ReplyDeleteYour girls can rock anything! I take my hat off to you mommy! :)
Jill xx
The socks kill me. That is too funny. I will NOT be introducing my girls to those or they will all have tail sticking out from their socks! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit wasn't too bad, but the sock put it over the edge! Pretty funny. And aren't those the sandals you love anyway?
ReplyDeleteYea, you get points.
ReplyDeleteSince the beginning of the Fashion Friday posts I've always thought that Ree was the most stylish of the two. Both cute, of course, but Ree seems to be more daring, creative and original. Go, Ree! :D
ReplyDeleteI think she looks good. Good for you for not making Marie taking them off:)
ReplyDeletethose are the cutest socks... my girls love monkeys as well. Sometimes when you ask Sydney her name... She replies... Monkey. and it's not a whisper.. she's proud to be a monkey. She also enjoys dressing herself, seldom does she match.. and we have that same yellow skirt... in size 2T and she still sports it. She calls it a tutu.
ReplyDelete'cuz your feet will be hot' best answer I could come up with
ha-ha too funny! Funny thing is we gave those to Ro & Ree and Savannah has a pair plus the next 2sizes up because I thought they were so cute! I should have bought the whole supply out!! At our house Coconut needs to go into Kyle's room when Savannah wears them because he tries to eat the tails!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the socks with the sandals; the tails are able to peek out just so!! But I'm not letting my 4 year old look at the girl's fashion picks...
ReplyDeleteSorry we missed you guys. We went to Gilroy Gardens yesterday. That was our first time. Our girls had a blast!
ReplyDeletei agree... the tails make the outfit. :)
