Time for those dazzling Friday Fashions!
It's Fashion Friday, time to take a look back at the fashionable (cough cough) ensembles the girls put together on their own this week. I should probably mention that they're a little wild, so you might want to brace yourself or get coffee first or something (I know I did). The outfits this week kind of made me grit my teeth, to tell the truth. But I'm proud to say that this uptight mama kept her mouth shut and let them do what they wanted. How could I not, when one morning Ree ran into our room and yelled "Do we get to pick our clothes today?" and when I said "Sure" she bounced back down the hall to her room saying "Happy!" "Happy!" "Happy!" with each bounce.
Little sweeties.
Alrighty, let's see. Ro (on the left in both pics) has been into crazy pants this week. She has on a pair of Hanna Andersson soft knit pants in both of these pictures. She also picks her chocolate-brown "teddy bear boots" from Target pretty regularly. She loves the soft fur-lined insides. In fact, when we were riding in the car recently she looked down at her feet and said "I wish my underw**r could be furry like my boots." Ha!!
Ree is going for layers upon layers of multicolored stuff lately. I think she's embracing "the more the merrier" school of style. I know I'm a control freak, but her outfit this morning was just begging for some intervention. I think it actually would have turned out ok if she had just grabbed a simple jean skirt or something. Anything but that summer butterfly skirt (which I have a feeling is going to get mysteriously lost in the laundry, shhhhh)... Ah well, other than holding the jean skirt out hopefully (and in vain) while she was rifling through the closet, I didn't do anything.
Then we've got a little Mama Fashion, because, hey, I get to have a little fun in their closet sometimes too. I got these orange and chocolate-brown shirts at Gap, the skirts are hand-me-downs, and those are Ro's fave boots. Fall stuff is so cute!:
Happy day before Halloween! And heaven help the teachers, because the kids are all carving pumpkins at preschool today.

No kidding, "help the teachers!" That many kids carving pumpkins? AAAAHHHH!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Fashion Friday. I admire your self-restraint. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do that. I let the older kids choose their clothes but Adam and Jeane? Jeane would wear her "leopard" costume every day, all day. Adam would wear doll clothes that are about 100 sizes too tight. Literally.
Adorable! Love their creativity. Funny how at 4, it's creative, but at 40, it's a walking "What Not To Wear" show. Tee hee.
ReplyDeleteFound those boots on the Target website...MUST HAVE. One thing, though...have you had them a while or in another size? The website had mostly good reviews, but also a couple of bad ones. Who am I kidding? I love them, anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks, M3!
wow!!!!! that second set of outfits was a doozy!!!! i have to say i love your outfit choices the best!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the crazy combos. My girls are starting to express strong opinions about their clothes, and especially their accessories. We have those boots too and we love them!!
ReplyDeletei ordered the dove shirt but gap sold out b4 they got it to me, i bought those embroidered jeans for it too boy was i mad
ReplyDeletei ordered the boots in purple @ target, but sweetsoles has some cute ones too
This is why it is a good idea to...let kids pick out their own clothes. I love their imagination even if it looks like there is no rhyme or reason they selected the coordinates. Did you ask them how the made their decisions? That would be the best art for me.
ReplyDeleteCindy M: We've had the boots for about a month now and have no complaints. They've been completely soaked in a rainstorm and survived, and the girls love that they're easy to get on and off and are supersoft inside. We have them in a size 11.
ReplyDeleteAnon: Actually I did ask about the clothing choices today at lunch (this would be the outfits in the second picture) and their answers were kind of funny. Ro looked at her outfit and said in a "duh mom, it's so obvious" voice: "Well day bofe have da same colors." (Well they both have the same colors.) And actually she's right, although it's hard to tell from my not-so-great photo with flash. And Ree giggled a little and said "I picked deez clothes cause they all match my underw**r." Ha!!
I only "know" you from the blog but I'm guessing you are not uptight! From what i rememember, these are the boldest selections yet ;-O
ReplyDeleteSuch creative little cuties!! Have a super weekend!!
ReplyDeleteSmiles! :o)
Nikki
Oh I gotta get some cool boots like those! Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAs always, very cute outfits!! Love the boots!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love what you selected. Those brown boots are totally adorable. Day 2 is like really far out, but you are a super-kewl mom, M3. The girls are always squeaky clean and happy as larks. Years from now no one will remember what they wore, but they will always remember that you let them pick out their clothes. I'll bet the other kids wish they could trade places with them.
ReplyDeleteCuties!! Happy Halloween!!
ReplyDeleteI love how your truly enjoy your angels! Your are an inspiration in the adoption community!

So... I have to ask... do the Salsa gals still have all of their fingers and toes? Because a carving knife? Sounds scary.
