It was a very merry Halloween
"Hurry, mama, hurry and finish my hair so we can go!"
"We are going to fill these purses with more candy than they have in the stores!" (squeal)
"Hi, my name is Reecake" (not too shabby considering that we were all still in pajamas minutes before this pic was snapped)
"Just call me Rocake"
"Let's go, let's go!!!!"
(Ok, even I have to admit I had a little trouble telling them apart in the dark last night. Ro is the cupcake on the left and has on brown tights, Ree is the cupcake on the right with white tights)
"Cupcake purses? Check. Headbands? Check. Glowstick necklaces? Check. Alright, let's roll!"
"I can't believe that mama and daddy want us to stop for a family picture. Come on folks, time is candy!"
"Whoohooo, we're free, we're free, look out neighbors here we come!"
"Wait, what do we do now? Oh yeah, the doorbell, where is that doorbell again?"
"You want to take another picture?! Are you people nuts? Our bags are woefully empty, let's get a move on!"
"Hey how did all that candy get in our bags? We tried to eat it faster than people could hand it to us."
The morning after...
"No mama, we don't have any time for breakfast, we have extremely important candy-sorting duties this morning." (I love Ro's tongue in this picture)
"Mama said we could pick out one piece to eat for zuhlowt (dessert) today, how will we ever decide?"
"Hey, what happened to dis punkmim decoration, mama? I tink Ree did it. No I tink Ro did it."
"We is in a parade, we frow candy to everyone."
"Why did we have to get dressed and get ready to go? We really just want to stay home and play with our candy."
"Hey, are we missing candy? Do you think mama ate some of dis?"
It was a fun night. The girls were beyond excited, and loved every single thing about Halloween except for the people who answered their doors dressed in scary costumes. (They still took candy from those folks, just gave them the extreme stinkeye while doing it.) One of the funniest things was when Ree ran up to a door and got her candy, then ran back to us while Ro ran up. The dude looked at Ro, figured she'd already gotten her share, and closed the door in her face. We nearly died laughing as we escorted them both back up to the door to explain that there really were two of them. Anyhow, the girls had a ball last night and woke up today in I-ate-too-much-candy-and-stayed-up-three-hours-past-my-bedtime moods. It was a little rough this morning, but they're napping now and we expect to see a return of their sweet selves this evening. Just in case, I'm spending naptime with a relaxing glass of wine and some pilfered candy. I've already picked out all the See's candy and have my eye on some M&Ms next...

I can't believe how cute they are! Cute isn't a big enough word. I almost had Ariel and Cinderella. Cinderella decided instead of a tiara, she'd wear a birthday hat. I decided to let that battle go.
ReplyDeleteBlogged the skirts I made by shamelessly copying your girls Halloween pants. Those ribbon pants were too sweet not to recreate. I made black corduroy skirts, same idea. Gave a link over to your site, hope that's OK!
Best, Indiana Lori
Love the cupcakes. That was my first choice, but Grace fell in love with the peacock- and I have to admit that she strutted her stuff pretty well :)

ReplyDeleteWe had problems with trick or treating last night. No one was home. We walked 4 blocks and only 3 people were giving out candy. It was a disappointing Halloween for my son.
I love the cupcake idea! SO CUTE.
ReplyDeleteThey are the sweetest little cupcakes ever!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Great job on the costumes.
ReplyDeleteThe door in the face story cracked me up! I'm sure the owners felt a little sheepish, but laughed it off. Understandable.
ReplyDeleteSo, did they get drunk on too much candy and get a tatoo? ;) It's very cute.
Someone gave out See's Candy????? I want to trick or treat in your neighborhood! Our best candy was Snickers. I want some See's! Scotchmallow, please....

The girls looked oh so cute in their cupcake costumes! Glad they had a great time getting all of the candy! Savannah had a great time and is pretty much playing with the candy and not eating much...Kyle sneaks a few here and there since he was too tired and too BIG to go out this year!
ReplyDeleteCutest cupcakes ever! Could you please tell us where you got those cool cupcake candy purses? Thanks, Jen
ReplyDeleteThey are SO adorable !!! Can I ask where you found those one piece pj's with the feetie's.. cant find them anywhere in my daughters size and she is about the same as your daughters...
ReplyDeleteVicky - NY
Hi guys, the cupcake costumes were ordered from Pottery Barn Kids (I think they sold out at the end of September though), the cupcake purses were a gift from the girls' BFF for Christmas last year, and the footie pajamas are from Target online (just go to target.com and search for "circo cotton footie" and you'll see all the colors and prints, including my favorite the red ones with little skulls). Love those PJs, especially that they're lightweight and all cotton -- most footie PJs are polyester fleece. We got size 5T for the girls because their feet are huge (they're wearing size 11 shoes now, sigh...)
ReplyDeleteThey are the cutest EVER. Really. Ever.
