Fashion friday (and a possible record for the most layers?)
TubaDad and I decided to live dangerously and take the girls out for a fancy schmancy dinner tonight. So I told them to run upstairs and put on something pretty and warm (it's a little chilly outside). And here's what they came back with. Heh. Funny little fancy girls. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they had on the most intricate outfits in that whole place.
Ree in head-to-toe blue, Ro in quite-the-interesting combo of pink-based clothes.
They were so well-behaved during dinner that we were kind of in shock. And ebullient. Dare I tempt fate by declaring that we have finally reached the point where we can take them out and actually enjoy ourselves?! Hm, we'll see... By the way, they thought the cheese plate was just to die for (tried every single one of the cheeses and dueled over the last bits of sharp cheddar and smoky gouda) and then couldn't agree on a dessert so were thrilled when we splurged and let Ro order the warm apple tart with gelato and Ree order the creme brulee. They also couldn't believe their luck when the waiter brought them custom pineapple/orange juice blends.
TubaDad was chuckling as all these layers came off at bedtime. And I just had to take a picture, of course.
Little sweeties.

They look wonderful! Their little outfits were so cute that I was amazed to see how many items they actually had on. What fun choices they made and looked all fancy schmansy for their big dinner out. So happy for all of you that it went so well! Ladies that dine...and dessert...mmmmm! Great choices.
ReplyDeleteHere's to many more special dinners with mommy and daddy!
I loooove the blue outfit!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I really don't think it matters what they wear!! They are just so cute in anything they put on and I think it is fabulous that you let them be so creative:):)
ReplyDeleteI love their outfits! Such personality that shines through.
ReplyDeleteThey are in layers just like the Chinese grandma's like...keep them bundled. The pictures of the clothes reminded me of Gotcha Day outfit pics that people take.
PRECIOUS.
They sure have the most fun and colorful wardrobe to choose from!
ReplyDeleteloving the outfits!!!!
ReplyDeleteLittle sweeties is right! How fun, and congrats on it being an enjoyable evening!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat. The first picture loaded really slowly so the picture came into view in stages from top to bottom. From the waist up I was thinking OK....looks good. As the picture loaded lower I laughed my head off as Ro's lower layers revealed themselves. I enjoyed that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great when we can actually enjoy a great dinner out. We had that for awhile - now we're back to the beginning again - but I have hope. These stages pass. (Phew)
Have a great week-end!
I love the blue outfit!!
ReplyDeleteVery fun but are you sure there wasn't a Chinese Nanny hiding in their closet directing them to layer up?? Always wonderful when the girls behave at dinner.
ReplyDeleteSoooooooooooooooo cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I love the leggings over the black pants. Sort of gives it a leg warmer/bell bottom look :).
ReplyDeleteBoth are adorable, but wow...she sure knows how to rock the blue!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I am totally a stranger, just visited your blog from another blog link...and I watched your referral call. I made it through okay. But when ya'll called M3's Mom...I totally bawled.
ReplyDeleteMe. A stranger on the internet. Crying over that video of yours.
Thanks!
Our experience was oh so very different! We will never qualify for twins in China so we just have to keep going back :)

I imagine when patrons in the restaurant saw these two sugar plums walk in the door, not a face anywhere didn't get a big grin. How smart you are to let them have a totally free hand in their clothing and to praise what they do. No shrinks needed here in the future!
ReplyDeleteThey looks so great. We like layers at out house too.
ReplyDeleteWe did the cereal Easter craft. It was fun! I looked all over and never could find the Crayola dough. Bummer. Thanks for the ideas!
cute! i see two future fashionistas in the making...
ReplyDeleteThey have more fashion sense than me.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick one word to describe your girls (well it would be hard) but I would pick SPUNKY. These are the coolest outfits on the cutest kids. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute. What great outfits.

They CLEARLY have the layering concept down pat...and quite fashionably as well...as they should in The Bay area (or up here where we are). They look fabulous. Glad to hear that you have reached a milestone in public issues...those are always nice.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
