So if you’re going to do something momentous, like jump in the pool for the first time without any floaties, I’d like at least a few minutes to prepare. Maybe get an audience of all your biggest fans (daddy and any relatives and friends in the vicinity), coordinate your swimsuits, bring the good camera, you know, that kind of important stuff? Heh heh.
Seriously though, Ro and Ree, you surprised the heck out of me when you took off running for the pool, waved off my frantic “wait for me, or get some floaties, or, ahhhhh, wait!!!!” and leaped straight into the cool blue waters. I thought for sure I was going to have to jump in with all my clothes on and fish you out. But I guess today was the day everything clicked, because you just kept on jumping, swimming, diving, touching the bottom, and giggling like mad the whole time.
Your daddy and I are so incredibly proud of you, we just couldn’t stop talking about it. And you two looked like you were going to pop you were so proud of yourselves.
(direct link to video)Love you, sweet girls!!!
That was so cute!! I have a swimmer (he is 16) and he would be so impressed with them:) Does your pool have a swim program?
ReplyDeleteI love the one picture with the one jumping and the others hand on the pool ledge. Too sweet!!!
WTG Girls!!!
long time reading. so sweet what you wrote today in the blog....!
ReplyDeletei nearly teared up myslef watching them. i have a 4 year old boy so i know all about the swimming....
its going to be a fun summer for the girls! congrats!
Awesome job Ro and Ree, you two rock!!! M3 if they gave you a heads up, then it would not be as much fun. :) We have a three year old fish at home, and out of necessity because her swim instructor father won't allow her to wear floaties. I spent last summer pining for floaties. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go girls!! You rock!!
ReplyDeleteHannah and I are so excited to come see you swim in person! She'll be able to show you her new tricks too! She's just learned how to jump in holding mommy's hands and go under water! What fun all of you will have playing together!!! We cannot wait to see you SOON!!!
¡Que valientes son! parecen dos preciosas sirenas.
ReplyDeleteI love how they jump with their legs all crazy and arms wide open. What cuties!!
ReplyDeleteWhat adorable jumping pictures and a precious moment saved.
ReplyDeleteAHHH, so cute. My little one has finally put it mostly together also. It's definitely going to be an awesome summer.
ReplyDeleteWoooooowwww! Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! O is taking her first round of swim lessons now. She's never expressed an interest in it, but she's getting waaay too heavy for me to catch when she jumps.
ReplyDeleteWay to go girls! You rock!
Good God that probably scared the crud out of you! Way to go, Ro and Ree....Maya is finding her inner fish this summer as well!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that makes me want to go swimming. And be young again. Do they take swimming lessons?
ReplyDeleteJamie
Hey guys: They do take lessons. They've got one this afternoon as a matter of fact! But it's never really "clicked" before, for lack of a better word. They have always loved swimming, but would sink like rocks to the bottom of the pool without floaties or a grownup's hand nearby. No big deal, we figured they'd get it someday, and I guess yesterday was the day. Fun! Their instructor is going to be surprised.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, ladies. That would have given me a heart attack to see them jump in without warning. Do you find it strange that they both were able to swim like that on the same day?
ReplyDeleteWell done girls! So nice this happened now so you don't have to lug around floaties for the rest of the summer.
ReplyDeleteAh! So cute...I needed that today. And here I thought your girls had been swimming floatie free all along. I need to throw my fish in the sea more often...I'm such a coward! About to blog my car craft tower and the laptop desks, with a link to your blog. I copied you right down to the sticky notes, and the 20 hour car ride was a blink! THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That is a huge first! Even though you didn't have your "good" camera, you really worked it to, I think those pics are awesome, and something tells me you'll have plenty of time to get more later, cuz I don't think those two are going to stop any time soon.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am jealous of that huge pool!! Is that a community pool? I may have to move to California :). Those are some awesome pictures and how cool is it that they are such impressive swimmers at such a young age? Maybe we'll see them in the Olympics in 10 or 15 years :).
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome!!!! Wow. I am totally in awe. Way to go girls.
ReplyDeleteLaughing at your, "I am a planner. Give me warning" (not a direct quote, but a paraphrase) Totally cracked me up. Looking forward to seeing you.
so sweet ... and so much energy!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! Way to go girls!!!!!! What a fun, wet summer you will have!
ReplyDeleteTate is lovin' this video... I think we will be watching this video again and again. She just might freckout when she finally see them in a few weeks....
ReplyDeletemessage from tate.... hi kiijgbgbhhjnvcm.m.m.
o my stars! how fun!!!
ReplyDeletethat video made me tired!!!
wish i had that energy!
So great to watch! And GUESS WHAT! The Tongginator finally started swimming this past week. She took classes all week and I guess the third time's a charm! She's still struggling a bit, but she actually swam with her FACE IN THE WATER about ten feet. Maybe she'll catch up to your girls this summer. *grin*
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Love the photos of them in midair!
ReplyDeletenext, they're off to college. so, get your camera ready! :O) kidding, but man it goes by fast, doesn't it?
