Last day of being five

The girls are at school right now, their last day of school as five-year olds, and I have a bunch of last-minute birthday and party errands to get done, so I’d better get hoppin’. First, though, here are two snapshots for today’s Oct Daily Life post.

After pulling into the parking lot for gymnastics class I realized that we had about five minutes to spare and said over my shoulder “Hey we’re a little early if you guys just want to relax for a few minutes!” Oh. Guess they were already relaxing.IMG_0549LR

TubaDad had a late business event yesterday, and I was busy doing something vital (ok, ok, perhaps it wasn’t of critical importance, but it was fun -- I was making felt hair clips for the girls), so I just never got around to making dinner. That was ok though, the girls were THRILLED with the idea of putting on PJs and heading out to a local fast-food restaurant for a girls-only PJ dinner night.IMG_0552LR

I can’t for the life of me remember what they were holding in this picture, and it was just last night. Gah!

PS: Thank you so much for your love and concern with our ducklings. We are all still so sad. The backyard is unnaturally quiet and every time I glance out there it bums me out all over again. The girls really miss their quackers, but they don’t really understand what happened in any detail, which is just fine by me (they didn’t see the poor ducks afterwards, or the marauder leaving like I did, ugh).

  1. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about the ducks! That makes me so sad. These things happen with outdoor animals, but still...they looked like wonderful little ducks.

Hugs to the girls. PJ Dinner out sounds like just the right idea.

Hope you have a great day getting all the last minute things in order. Wish I could be with you!! Love ya!

  3. I always called this age the "bag lady" stage. Caroline (5) is now in it, as well...bags here and there stuffed with all sorts of odds and ends that are in no way, shape or form "odd" at all to her. :)

Happy Birthday,Ro and Ree from Austin.Texas

From Wikipedia,"A person's Golden or Grand Birthday, also referred to as their "Lucky Birthday", "Champagne Birthday" or "Star Birthday", occurs when they turn the age of their birth day (e.g., when someone born on the 25th of the month turns 25).[7]
