Homework that amuses me is the kind of homework I can get behind

Usually homework is kind of a bad word around these parts. Ro and Ree would rather do ANYTHING else, even (gasp) clean up or eat vegetables, and I have to admit that I don’t love homework time either. But this one assignment they had to do tonight was hilarious. Well at least I thought so.

Here’s Ree’s:

And here’s Ro’s:

Oh my gosh, they KILL me!!

PS: For the record, I have picked them up on time Every Single Day from school, so I’m not really sure about that particular bee in Ro’s bonnet.

Ree's comments were very intriguing. Where doe the homeschooling come from?

  2. Beats me! Not out of my mouth, that's for sure. I would be the worst homeschool teacher ever.

Omg, these had me cracking up! Especially the part about kids being picked up on time! Um, sadly my sons would have to agree from experience!

  4. As pediatric burn nurse I'm all over the no candles for kids. Christmas candlelight service makes me soo nervous!

  5. Delightful! I love the "As you can see..." comment! I'm will Ree, let's home school in a camper!

  6. I loved Ree's, so sweet. I am glad to know that she is behind me homeschooling my sick son. All of hers were so well thought out.
Also - I think you would be a great homeschooling mom- so creative.

  7. Hehehe. Very cute. But I'm wondering if they saw another child getting upset because he/she wasn't getting picked up when they expected? That might explain the thought.

  8. They are astounding writers. But I question the homework, both the validity and more importantly the fact that no-one likes it. Something is wrong - kids this age with this kind of ability should still love homework.

  11. As a professional technical writing manager, I would like to hire them both. Ree's is interesting, because she has very specific details in her new rules. And I like Ro's because she kinda does that whole introduction, "First...next...", conclusion thing.

I will be visiting my company's HQ in three weeks (near San Fran), and I'd like to set up interviews with them both... :)

  12. LOVE IT! Sara isn't in love with her homework either. It's all of 15 minutes, but MAN, is it pulling teeth. I'd rather pull off my toenails than homeschool, so my girls had better stay healthy. And in Ree's world? I'd like a castle rather than a camp, so sign me up now. Sara informed me last night she'll be living here forever, so a castle might work best.

Thanks for sharing. Too cute. Homework is not greeted warmly by my 4th or first grader, so believe me, you are not alone!

I used to teach 2nd grade and do not recall giving homework but I suspect the lament over it has to do with continuing your education once you get home when you would rather play.

  16. Oh my! I haven't laughed out loud so hard in a long time. I can't get over how differently their thoughts were. Nothing seems to get past the two of them:)

  17. LOL! Too funny! Don't you love the places your kids go in their minds?? It's neat to see how differently the girls answered the question!

  19. Love it. As a 1st grade teacher I am totally stealing this for my class to do. I can't wait to see the results!

  20. "As you can see", Ro is going to be a lawyer. She lays out her arguments very well. LOL!! These are pretty funny. You should definitely keep these in their box. (wait, do you have a box to keep their fun stuff to show them when they are older? is that you or someone else?)

    Ha ha,
    these are awesome.
And of course people SHOULD live in houses, car campers and castles only. Well...maybe an occasional tent too.

Love those open for interpretation assignments!
I picked Wren up lae ONE TIME due to an accident on the freeway and she still brings it up over four years later!!!
Might have happened to a classmate and the rumor spread! Lol

  23. Ro said to "pick up your children up on time". Not have to pick up your children. Perhaps for some reason she thought she had to wait. LOL!
