The cabinet-makers were here Tuesday and Wednesday to install our new cabs!! I can’t believe they did as much as they did in two days. And one electrician was back (that’s him on the right) to cut yet another huge hole in the ceiling. One of the original recessed lights was too close to the new cabinets and had to be moved.
Here she is, looking all purdy and ready for countertops and floors ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥:
This is the new smaller window we made out of the two low, separated, larger ones. We love the unobstructed view and the way it almost looks like a painting now. No screens, window bars, or wall divider cutting off the view now, and plenty of room for cabinets on either side and counter underneath now:
Love the lines and the little details!
The colors are all different on these cabinet shots because it was a rainy day and the sun keep peeking out then hiding.
Let’s see, what else? The stucco folks worked on the outside of the new window. Hopefully they got in what they needed before the rain started:
And the tiling/flooring guy worked on the powder room. I think that room will be tiled, floored, and toileted by early next week (fingers crossed).
Next up this week: the kitchen counter templating will be done (today), then flooring will start.
Oh, and we’re still living out of the temporary kitchen. We made Rice Krispie Treats in the crockpot the other night and they were fun! Thanks to Judy (a blog commenter) for the suggestion. They came out tan, by the way, not white like stovetop krispie treats, so Ree renamed them Golden Krispies. Smart girlie.
Cheers!
PS: If you haven’t had a chance to enter yet, our “Sweet Moon Baby” and “Mei-Li and the Wise Laoshi” book review and giveaway is open until May 1. Also, the winner for the Hostess $100 giveaway was Sunshyn V. I updated the post with the winner’s name, but I don’t think anyone ever looks at the old post, so I’ll do a separate winner’s post (the way I used to) from here on out.
M3,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! I bet you just can't wait until it is all done. I love the window too. Loverly!
It is beautiful! Can't wait to see the entire project completed. I didn't even see any dust on those new cabinets either. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, it's gorgeous! I can't wait to see the finished progress! You guys have awesome taste!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference cabinets make! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great view through the window.....it does look like a painting. We had the same problem with a light in the ceiling. Isn't it amazing how they can cut it out, move it & you can't tell? Great progress..you are on the downward side now!
ReplyDeleteAh downward side, I like the sound of that!
DeleteOkay obviously I am suffering from extreme sour-grapes jealousy, but how on earth will you keep all those carved bits and detailing clean? And yes they are beautiful and I love it!
ReplyDeleteSwiffer duster! And actually they're filthy now -- oh so much dust, and you barely notice.
DeleteAbsolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, love, love the deep, rich tones of the new cabinets and all the beautiful accents and intricacies! The extra storage with smaller window are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe new window is so pretty with the unobstructed view and yes, I have to keep reminding myself that it's not a paining.
Ooo...counter tops and flooring next! Wheee!!! SOOO happy for you friend!!!
I'm curious, whatever happened to the Hostess giveaway?
ReplyDeletecg
A lady named Sunshyn won it. I updated that giveaway post with the information instead of posting a separate winner's notice because BlogHer changed it's policy, but this is the second question I've gotten, so I think I'll do separate posts from now on.
DeleteYou have got to be kidding me with that view!!! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe do love that purdy purdy view! That backyard and view are the only reason TubaDad could convince me to move to this house. I loved our old house, but it was on a steep hill, busy street, and had two houses looming over our backyard. He said we could change the inside but we could never change the lot or location.
DeleteGlad you had fun making them and that the girls enjoyed it. I call them "crockpot krispies".
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! It's so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting window and beautiful cabinetry! May I ask where the cabinets are from? Did you design everything for the new kitchen? Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteBFD Cabinets (the name cracks me up and stands for Brown Felicetta Designs). They design and install from Carmel to San Fran.
DeleteAnd yes, I guess we (TubaDad, me, and my friend Maggie) did design the kitchen. We just gradually picked out what we wanted, starting with the granite for some reason.
Wow your kitchen looks awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous!!!! Wow.
ReplyDeleteWow -- beautiful!! Love how that window turned out!
ReplyDeletejanet
This is absolutely gorgeous! The color of the cabinets and that window! To die for. Good luck with the remaining days-- it's neat to follow along as your progress is made :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, the VIEW!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the kitchen! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice! And the view does look like a painting.
ReplyDeleteLoving it!
ReplyDeleteAunt Jane
Love your new cabinets!! We are building a house, so can I be nosey & ask what kind of wood your cabinets are made from? Maple? Oak? etc..
ReplyDeleteShoot, that's not nosy -- they're alder with a custom two-step stain.
