So close we can almost taste it (actually we will taste something tonight)

Tonight marks the end of week 6 and our kitchen is almost done!

The main backsplash was done this week (we’re still waiting for some bullnose to finish the part under the window), all appliances and new faucet/instant hot water/soap dispensers were installed, and final electrical work was finished (install plugs, puck lights, switches, dimmers, etc.). We still need to hang the massive globe light over the island (the electricians decided they needed reinforcements so they’ll be back Monday to do that), finish the final cabinet door adjustments, shelving, glass, toe kicks, etc., and have the painting done. And I think that might be it. Squeal!!

Here’s a quick video that Ree helped me with tonight to show progress and highlight some of our fave parts of the new kitchen. TubaDad is working on cleaning the new ovens and installing the various racks and components so we can test the ovens out tonight with some sugar cookies.

I like how Ree calls it “the microwaver” and says she makes “oakmeal” in it every day.

Cheers!

Will you need a ladder to get into your cupboards each day? From the video they look very high and deep.

  7. It's gorgeous. I love the idea of the microwaver being at a level where the girls can use it.
Congratulations on your "nearly done" kitchen

  8. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! What a beautiful new kitchen you have! Heh...is it silly that one of my favourite parts is how you open the trash can? Sure beats the finger eating baby locks at my place!

How were the sugar cookies? I thought of you as we drove by the airport and was tempted to hop a plane and join you although I realized we wouldn't get there until an hour or two after the cookies would have come out of the oven so they'd probably all have been eaten by then! :o) (Mucho run-on sentence there!!)

Can't wait to see it in person. I think making watermelon stars in such a beautiful kitchen will be nothing but a treat! ;o)

    love you!!

  9. Love it! You can tell the twinnadoes have grown up by the wonderfully well placed microwave :)
That would not fly in our kitchen with an inquisitive 2 year old underfoot :)

  11. I love it that she says "oakmeal." My daughter, even at 7, still says "Alvin and the Chickmunks."
