Getting in the spirit

The holiday specials have started popping up on the DVR, much to Ro and Ree’s delight. Faves this year are Elf on the Shelf, The Flight Before Christmas, Rudolph, Jingle All the Way, Frosty, Prep and Landing, Polar Express, and Yes Virginia.

Tonight TubaDad worked his magic hanging twinkly lights on the eaves of the house and the girls and I starting making Christmas appear inside.

DSC_0643LROur Elf on a Shelf also made his appearance this morn – hiding out in the cereal cupboard that the girls hit without fail every day before school. They’ve been starring items and dog-earing catalogs for a month now so were more than ready to supply Chippey with the official wishlists to take to Santa tonight. Because I know it will amuse me to look back on this in years to come, the prioritized lists are:

  6. Deluxe Magic Set, Mindware
  7. Lyra Aquarelles and pencil sharpener, Magic Cabin

    1. Oh my gosh I think you're right! Didn't realize it. See, this is why I write these things down - endless amusement in years to come!

  2. Lol! I'd need to Google everything on their lists to know what they are!
Love the last pic although I'm not sure Dusty is as impressed! :o)

    1. That's why they included helpful catalog references - hee!

And no, Dusty is not as enamored of this costume as he was with the pumpkin costume. I think it tickles him -- might have to modify slightly. Or call this one pic done (probably his pref).

Where do you get all your wonderful nutcrackers??

    1. Thanks - they are fun! We get them from all over -- each girl picks out a new one each year and then we write the year and name on the bottom. Some are from Target, some from HomeGoods, some Macy's, and who knows where else -- they usually just eventually see one they love at some point while we're out and about in December and we grab it. And they always pick different ones from each other.

The tradition started the first year they were home and a neighbor had a Nutcracker party where each kid brought a wrapped Nutcracker and went home with a different one.

I'm with Ree on the Time Turner wish. I would love one (even as a 40+ mama of 4 !)

  10. Have you ever thought about taking Ree to Florida to visit Harry Potter world at Universal Studios? I've never been, but want to. I've heard its great for Potter fans! Matthew & I had our 1st date to see the 1st HP movie back in Nov. 2001, so we are sorta partial to the boy wizard. :)

I love the cupcake jammy pants. Ro wants stuff from magic cabin (loooooooooooove their site) and Ree wants American girl and the noble collection. How do you deal with their differences? lol

    1. The cupcake jams are Ree's favorites right now. She'd never take them off it we'd let her. (They came from friends and older twins.)

It's never been a problem when they get different stuff. It actually makes it a little easier -- when they ask for two things that are the same we have to mark each one with a Sharpie initial (there are armies of Sharpied toys and clothes in this house).

    Do they collect AG dolls?

    1. Not really - Ree has the original baby doll she got in Chicago years ago and a new one that she got for her bday. Ro has the original baby doll and then some new accessories (she likes "the stuff" more than the dolls). They both like the accessories.

Could look at dusty all day. Such a cutie. I bought my dogs a dental nylabones for Xmas (dinosaur shaped). They're much cheaper at pet food direct than petco. Dogs love them! Trust me, I'm the only person I have that has a dogs list & persons list. Maybe Santa will bring dusty one. They're only $5. Good for their gum health and fun. :)

    Happy holidays to your family!
