Alert the media, we spent less than $10 on a Target trip!!

DSC_4314LRps

Wow.

Actually we were standing by the exit in stunned silence looking at the total, when I realized TubaDad was still holding a package of coin-rolling papers under his arm. Yep, he had inadvertently shoplifted. When he went to pay for them, I suddenly yelled “If they’re not less than 67 cents, forget it!!!” And, instinctively grasping the gravity of this occasion, he just put them down in the nearest bin and backed away. Hee.

So spill it, have you ever gone into Target for one specific item and actually walked out with ONLY that one item? Or -- my modus operandi – do you walk in for one item and walk out pushing a full-to-the-brim basket of home decorations, little girl clothes, holiday items, linens, and all sorts of didn’t-know-you-needed-it-but-can’t-live-without-it items that bring your total to an astonishing amount?

DSC_4313LRPS: We would have spent even less, but the girls were with us, hence the ring pops. Plus, Ro walked out of there with the priciest item, the funky foam castle kit, because she held it up and said “Come on, can we please get this because it’s just so cool?!!!!” Well, it’s hard to say no when you’re cracking up. That’s TubaDad sleeping on the floor in the background of this photo, by the way. Dude got up at the crack of dawn to play golf with his buddy and now can barely stay upright.

Hey you can save more with the Target Visa - just about everything is 5% off all the time! We love it!

Found it interesting that California has no tax on grocery and that they consider candy as grocery! Here in Chicago, we have taxes on everything and candy is taxed the same as retail 10%!!

I don't think I've ever bought only one thing at Target...and I'm pretty sure I've never spent under 10 dollars! Impressive!! I remember when they built first built a Target in our city, so long ago now!
What did we have before Target? Kmart I guess...aaaahhhhh!!
TubaDad looks just like my husband sleeping on the floor! Haha!

  5. Target is dangerous, and so is CA state taxes... YIKES! KY is only 6%, so I can spend a little more. ;o)

  6. You go girl!!!!
Yahoo just put out an article recently that Target is cheaper than Walmart!!! I love Target and never get out of there under $100 usually.
Did you find that edible Easter grass. I may stop today for that. Everyone had some good Easter basket tips.
BTW-- I ordered some PEEPS soaps and also the mini cupcake soaps. Too cute!! Of course, I couldn't complete my order without the German Chocolate cake balls. Can't wait for those to get here.

  7. I either leave with nothing, or having spent around 100.00. Half of the time I forget why I went once I am there and forget to get the one thing I actually needed/wanted.

  9. As a Canadian, I am deeply offended by this post. It's like salt in the proverbial wound.
LOL! Someday, we will have Target and then Canadians everywhere (or in just the select cities where it's available) will rise up and join you in the target-tasticness.

  10. Never.ever.ever. I consider it a success if we leave that place for less than $100.

  11. That's pretty awesome when that happens and I'm jumping up and down if I get under $50!

  12. I'm good as long as I avoid that dollar isle...Why is it that the dollar isle always costs me double digits??

  13. I am not sure I've gotten out of there for less than $100 before, let alone $10! I was cracking up at TubaDad crashed out in the middle of the room - kind of makes me feel right at home haha!!

  16. You already know I'm too weak to shop there. You would enjoy Santa Shopping at Target. I once checked out with 4 carts when I was in charge of our School's Santa Shop. Otherwise, I'm in for toothpaste and come out with a lamp and holiday-themed kitchen towels. And shoes.

  17. WOW...if i get out for less than $100 i am happy!
TARGET gets way too much of our salary.

  18. I usually spend between $200-$300 in a trip to Target. I try not to go more than once every three months. I figure that if I made it all the way into town, I better get whatever we can use and make it worth the gas money.

I refuse to step foot in Walmart. Yay Target!!

  19. I'm floored that you managed that.
I think they have some weird tracking device that makes you automatically spend $100 because it happens 9 out of 10 times to everyone that shops there.
    IKEA is the same way.

I was able to leave Target not only under $10 but with only one thing! Of course that one thing was ice cream to make my hubby & I feel better because we had to leave an event because #1 was being an insufferable brat. Chocolate (& an early bedtime for #1) cures all!

What are you talking about? I'm positive Target has a $100 cover charge! At least it always has for me ;)

  22. I have NEVER been able to leave Target for under $10.00. It's awful. It's my favorite store ever. Mine has a grocery store too, so it's easy to walk off with a new shirt and add it to the grocery bill. :oP

  23. We spent a dollar last Saturday. Kieren needed a new hairband and that's ALL we bought (and from the dollar bin too)!!!

I'm not quite sure what the essential item was on your ticket. Was it the Werther's? Regardless, next time you're there you may want to check out Pepperidge Farm's Tim Tams. You can't get them anywhere but Target as far as I know.
Congrats on getting out so cheaply!

  25. Suzy, it was the set of glitter markers, which were so cheap I would have bought more if I had known. The Werther's were an impulse buy (for me).

  26. Awesome! I actually went into Target and spent nothing one day. I was so shocked, I even posted about it on Facebook and all my friends were shocked too. I went in looking for short jammies, and they weren't out yet (we need short ones early in San Antonio!), and instead of filling up my cart at the dollar rack, I just walked out. I still can't believe it.

  27. Yes, I have left with just 1 thing. But then again I work there now, so, ya know, the magical hold it once had on me is now gone. ahahaha! And yes, you can save even more by opening up a Target check card - it works just like your debit card/check draws straight from your bank account and you get 5% off every single transaction, every single time! It isn't like the Target credit card - because that charges interest and you have to pay it off each month. It's just like your debit card only it is a Target debit card and you use that in place of your own card but it does the same exact thing. No extra charges or fees. The only thing Target "gets out of it" is customer loyalty. Oh and to our Canadian friends, never fear, Target is expanding into CANADA! Opening up 200 stores! :) You can also find many coupons online at Target.com. We accept 1 manufacture coupon and 1 Target coupon for each item. Plus we will match ads of other stores - just bring in the complete ad from the competition. :) LOVE working for Target, and LOVE their adoption assistance benefit too!
