Can you still be snowbunnies if there's only an inch of powder?

We had a freak coldsnap and it actually snowed down to the thousand-foot elevation last night. Holy snowflake, Batman! We woke to see the surrounding hills blanketed with an enticing little bit of the white stuff and were just THRILLED. I called my friend Maggie and begged her to go snowchasing with us. We plotted our route (which turned out to be a teensy bit illegal), did some hasty shopping to get a few last-minute snow clothes, then drove up and up and up, and actually found some dang snow. It was the first time Ree and Ro had seen it, and they had a ball. Ree laid down in the snow and grinned like a fool: Ree laid down in the snow and just grinned and grinned Our slightly grungy 12-inch high snowman: What a cute little grungy snowman (see his little scrawny stick arms and leaf/rock face?) Ro throws her first snowball (at me, actually): Ro throws her first snowball Cute little snowbunnies: The girls had so much fun The full set of pics, including a candy that Ro identified today as being "close" to TubaNuts, can be viewed as thumbnails, captioned small pics, or slideshow.

    Hey M!
Ask the preschool teacher what 'tuba-nuts' are. It could be a nickname for something they have at school.
Stay warm! Love the snow :)

  4. Could it be the hard Christmas ribbon candy?! The only other thing I could think of was Fruit by The Foot.

  5. Oh hey COME ON OVER! We have loads of snow along with obscene, arctic cold temperatures. -19 was the low one day recently, I believe. This weekend is supposed to bring more snow and a high of 5 degrees.

On second thought, maybe I will come out there. I am getting too old and tired for these kids of temperatures.

Glad you all enjoyed your snow!

Loved the pictures. Isn't it amazing what a little snow can do to people? When it snowed here in Houston last week, everybody was so excited you would have thought the snow was piled up 4 feet deep.

It was great that you and Maggie could get out with the girls and let them really enjoy it.

"Bubble Tape" or "Bubble Roller" are both pink, round and look like candy to kids.

Our china princess likes to make up names for Candy that she has seen in stores. We always try World Market, because they have lots of candy's around the world that I had no idea existed. They may have something similar if you have one near you!!
Good Luck! We are very interested in your search haha

Congrats on the snow! The closest thing I've ever seen to snow down here is when it snowed in Miami on an episode of the Golden Girls. Sorry - I'm a bit jealous. It's going to be in the 80's here today. BAHUMBUG!

  16. Love the little grunge snowman. When my sister and I were little we made a snow chicken because we were too small to make a snowman.

The snow disks that you sit on and ride are perfect for those two and will provide hours of snow-riding delight for parents and kids!

    Great pictures!

  17. A little snow goes a long way around here..lol. Love the outfits!

Have you considered Bubble Tape? It's pink, it's sweet, it can be mistaken for candy by the small fry, and you can pull it out to get more?

  19. If Ro and Ree are thrilled with your snowfall, they'd be delirious around these parts -- we got 6" of snow last night, and are expecting another foot and a half by Friday...

    Sheesh!

Gotta love their cold weather gear, though, even though they might not be able to wear it often!

Not long til Christmas -- I'd better get crackin!

After seeing that picture I am even MORE convinced that it is fruit by the foot. Have you tried buying a package and opening it up and showing them the actual thing once it is unwrapped. It really does look similar. GOOD LUCK.

A few years ago my little one decided to tell us after midnight mass that the only thing she wanted from Santa was Pokemon cards. She had never even played with Pokemon cards and to be honest, I don't think she even knew what they were. She said that she had whispered it to Santa every time we saw him. So, that involved a middle of the night run to every gas station and pharmacy that we could find. She was so happy to see those cards on Christmas morning...and then never looked at them again. The things we do for our kids...
