The five-day fashion experiment
We're going to conduct a fun experiment this week (well at least I hope it's fun). We dragged a little ladder into the girls' closet and told Ro and Ree that they're 100% in charge of what they wear. Usually I "guide" their choices at least a tiny bit, but not this week. That's right, they've got free rein to dress in head-to-toe bubblegum pink (gag), wear flip-flops in the rain, match each other or not, pile on every single favorite thing on one day, or whatever else strikes their fancy. And they won't hear a peep from control-freak mama. (Want to take bets on whether I develop a facial tic by the end?)
Here's Day 1, kinda cute, and they definitely had fun:
Interesting that they both went for single-color looks (something I never do with them), and both chose the same jacket but in different colors. Ree was happy with the clothing selection, but pointed out that they don't have any blue underwear and it would be really nice if she had some to pick from tomorrow. Gee, sorry.
Can't wait to see what they do over the next 4 days...

Interesting that Ro, as usual, is wearing pink, even when she is the one picking! This will be fun!
ReplyDeleteThey did a great job for day 1. The new header is beautiful!

What a fun experiment! Caroline has dressed herself and has come up with, uh, interesting combinations: clothing too small, patter combinations that defy logic, and the occasional princess dress to the market. All fun and makes for good memories.
ReplyDeleteThat is hysterical! Can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings.
ReplyDeleteHey, that's pretty good actually. Can't wait to see how it goes in the next four days.
ReplyDeleteooohhh you're brave!!!! my 4 and 5 year old can do it-- but my 3 year old- it's hit or miss some days!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun experiment. I am afraid to do it though, you know that facial nerve tic you were talking about.....
ReplyDeletethere is no telling what my cutie would pick out but I am sure "sweats" would be at the top of the list.
have fun. will tune in tomorrow

They did very well their first day. Looks like Mommy's style has kind of rubbed off on them a bit. Except for the flip-flops. But, then, it was raining here this morning, too, and guess what I'm wearing as I type this.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Really.
~C~
Off to a rather stylin' start..cold toes and all.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what happens by the weekend LOL
Where are the feather boas and animals prints?
ReplyDeleteWhao, I couldn't do that. I LOVE dressing Emma and can't wait every morning to pick her clothes. I know that someday she will pick her own clothes (when she is older) so for now I want to enjoy it as long as I can.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the girls did a great job in picking their own clothes. I'm surprised that Ree didn't pick yellow.
What fun!! It's going to be exciting to see what they choose each day! Day 1 was awesome!!
ReplyDeletePS - Love the new header! Beeeeautiful!
Too cute! Love the new header!
ReplyDeleteI love this experiment! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the new header. Great job.
I still remember one day when my mom told me I could wear anything I wanted...I picked a light blue sweatshirt(with Cookie Monster) with a red sundress over top. I was so proud of myself.
This is going to be so much fun.....I can't wait to see what they pick out each day!! I think they did a pretty great job for day 1. I hope you put blue underwear on the shopping list:)

I love the new header!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave woman. Can't wait for the experiment updates.
LOVE the new header!!!! Girls are always too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely going to be an interesting experiment.
ReplyDeleteThat is totally great! They look so cute. Love the kleenex in the pockets....so prepared. Love the header of the blog! So summer.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great experiment.I know sometimes Miss S goes thru 3 or 4 changes a day on her own! We got caught in a rain/hail storm on Saturday and she laughed and jumped all the way to the car. I was soaked by the time I got her in the carseat but then thought maybe everyone should be a 3 year old 15 minutes a day--they have so much fun! Miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for the rest of the week. Today showed great fashion sense... not bad for little ones... You are the greatest Mom letting the girls try different things and expressing who they are...
ReplyDeleteLove the new header.. What a great family you are.. Linda
I'm impressed that they both picked all matching colors. I think it is a great job.
ReplyDeleteLast Saturday I let DD pick out her clothes for a trip to a festival. She insisted on Hello Kitty rain boots, even though it was sun shiney. She enjoyed wearing them all day. It didn't hurt anyone so I let her. Sometimes it is good to let go and let them be creative.
I was just thinking last night, when will I let her go clothes shopping with me and let her pick out her own clothes for the majority of the time? Probably never!!!
I can't wait to see the rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteThis will be interesting... Sorry about the TICK thing. We will still love you.
ReplyDeleteAt least they know kleenex go in pockets! Huge percentages of my elderly female patients believe the place to store tissues is in one's bra! I know it's supposed to be one of those stereotypical jokes, but it's not!
