Well now they've gone and made me cry

TubaDad is still on his business trip in Spain and the girls have now made me cry. And not for the reasons you might suspect. Last night it was finally bedtimeohblessedbedtime and I tucked the girls in, blew kisses to them and all of their mangy stuffed animals, and whispered the same thing I tell them every night, "I love you more than chocolate." Normally they giggle or blow kisses in return, or maybe one of them will squeak out a "nite mama, uv you," but this time I heard "I uv you more dan candy necklisses!" Oh man, Cutest Thing Ever. Well I just couldn't help it, I got all mushy and hugged and snuffled all over them and bedtime was kinda delayed. Funny, tough little girls making me get all sappy like that. Sniff. DSC_2079m DSC_1984m DSC_2018m I'm a finalist!PS: Voting for the Scholastic Parent & Child mommy blogger contest is ending today, and the Salsa Blog is falling behind... So would you mind popping over there and putting in a vote for our blog? Please? I promise I won't cry anymore. Heh.

  2. I love the way you dress your girls. Do they pick out their own outfits? I can not wait for mine to start picking out their own whacky outfits. Your girls are beautiful!

  4. Wait til they tell you they love you past China!! I always tell my Emma that I love her past the moon and then one night she said "Mom, I love you past the moon and past Florida and even past China". They truly melt our hearts. It's the best feeling ever!!

    Have a good weekend.

  6. I got my "cry" also during bedtime when I said "I love you" and she said "I love you more." We also blow kisses that we catch and put underneath our pillow so we can have sweet dreams.

I have another curious question. When you are alone, who gets tucked in first? Do they stay in their room while you tuck in one of them?
And have you ever had the girls sleep with you when their Daddy is away on his trips?

Okay, just testing my telling-the-girls-apart skills. Is Ro in white and Ree in black? They are both adorable, no matter what color they have on!

  13. Awwww, that is so sweet its bringing tears to my eyes too! My girls and I spend half an hour every night saying stuff like, "I love you more." I love you more than that." I love you twice as much as that. I love you two times anything you say.

  19. Hi guys, thanks for all the sweet comments and for the votes! Let's see, here are the answers to the questions:

Cara: Depends on the day and my mood. :-) Sometimes I just hand them what I've picked for the day, sometimes I ask what they're in the mood for and give them a few choices, and sometimes Ree drags her stool into the closet and picks out the complete outfits for both of them (Ro is pretty indifferent).

Mexican chopsticks: When I'm alone, we do the bedtime routine in Ree's room (it's bigger) so that's pjs, toothbrushing, and reading stories, then they jump in their beds and I go in the room of whoever's in bed first and tuck her in, sing a couple of short songs, and give kisses, then I go to the other room and do the same thing. They're great about waiting patiently, and the most they ever have to wait is a couple of minutes. The girls have never slept in our room at home, even when TubaDad's gone, but we do the roommate thing on vacations, which is a fun treat. We've learned that the best way for us to travel is for TubaDad and Ro to share a room and for Ree and I to share a room. That way the girls are never alone in a room in a new place.

Anon: Yes, you got it right! Ro is in the cream-colored Pear shirt and Ree is in the dark Mickey shirt.

Melissa: To make the little twisty ponys, I started to put their hair in normal ponytails but on the last loop of the rubberband I only pulled the hair halfway through (so they had little loops with long trailing ends), then I wrapped the trailing ends around and around the loops and secured the whole thing with another rubberband.
