Fashion Friday
It's fashion friday again, time to see what happens when we let the kiddos run wild and free in the closet and pick their own fashion.
For the first fashion entry this week, Ro (left) wanted Rainbow Ponies for her hair (this picture should give a good view of them, I know Catherine had asked for a close-up), and Ree wanted two ponytails with some neat orange and purple bug and flower hairbobbles we got at the dollar store a couple of years ago. Ro wanted multiple layers of pink, which she shed as the day got hotter. Ree picked purple and yellow clothes "because I really yike doze colors, mama."
The next day, Ree (left) confidently grabbed an orange sleeveless embroidered polo shirt, peach skirt, and light peach capri leggings. I thought it was going to look hideous, but no, cute as a button on her. Ro wanted lots of color and lots of dots, I think she accomplished both and her outfit makes me smile. She went with dotted t-shirt, red shorts, pink dotted legwarmers, and dotted socks. Heh.
For the last outfit, Ree (left) wanted yellow and pink. She picked the shirt first and then rooted around for suitable bottoms but all the ones she really wanted were in the laundry. So she settled for this pink skirt, which she said was "too yight" (too light). She picked the new yellow and pink bear hair bobbles she chose from the Daiso store. Ro wanted her new pink outfit — "da one dat all matches, mama." She picked this outfit out herself at the store, I think it might be the first outfit she's gotten to pick out and purchase, and I'm guessing it won't be the last. Heh. She's also wearing new hair bobbles from Daiso, these ones are little pink dice, and is very into precisely tucking in her shirts lately. The Jellies are the shoes of choice this week. The pink ones (my faves) are from Old Navy, and the purple ones are from Target.
Wow, their hair is getting long! All of Ro and Ree's past Fashion Friday outfits can be seen here. Ro and Ree are choosing their own outfits three times a week now, so on the weeks I have my act together, you'll see three photos for Fashion Friday.
Now it's your turn!
Share the grins and give us a link to an outfit that your kiddo put together! Fashion Friday is now a regular weekly feature, so grab your camera, turn those kids loose in the closet at least once a week, and blog about it.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend! TubaDad returned from another business trip today and he's taking tomorrow off, so we'll have a four-day weekend. (squeal!!)

They have a great eye for color for such young 'uns. I think they're going to be artistic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy outfit that Ro picked out --the one with the dots! Ree's "family of orange" outfit got me smiling, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love those jelly shoes! Z has outgrown hers... time to get another pair!
I think my girls and yours went to the same fashion school.. Love It!
ReplyDeleteRo's dotted outfit is my favorite, it makes me smile too :) this is such fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYour girlies have an amazing way of putting things together! Makes me want to buy more 'fun' clothes for myself. Each day it's a choice of what solid top matches these jeans/black pants? It's tough to be wild with those choices but your girlies know what they want and wear it with style!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pic of the rainbow hair. Neato! Have you ever heard of 'fishtale braids'? It's a current favourite of Rebecca so I'll try to snap a pic and video this weekend while we're away.
Hope you have a great weekend friend! Love ya!
Love all their choices again this week. Especially #3. Oh...the frilly skirt. Dahlia would love it! And the jellies are fab. And yes, their hair IS getting long (ahem...I have a little hair envy here.)
ReplyDeleteBTW. I'm having trouble with my site. It only opens sporatically - apparently a windows problem?? If anyone can help, I'd love it. :-)
Enjoy your long family weekend.
ReplyDeleteThree outfits per kid per day? Holy cow, woman, you must do as much laundry as I do (and I've got four teenage boys and two toddler daughters!).
ReplyDeleteSo cute, though!
Catherine, I haven't heard of fishtale braids -- please share a pic!!!
ReplyDeleteWanda, I couldn't get your site to open at all. Kept getting a weird error so I couldn't even look at it to troubleshoot. Have you added any counters or anything else to the sidebar this week? I'd check out whatever you've done that's most recent and start deleting things one by one until you find the culprit.
TrulyBlessed, oh no, we only do one outfit a day, the girls just get to dress themselves three times a week (M, T, Th right now) and then I post the pics on Fridays.
Wanda's site loads fine for me, but the linky widget here didn't load the first time. I'm guessing intermittent Blogger/Google issues or just random internet traffic jams.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are sooo creative! I love seeing their fashion choices every week. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThose are great outfits this week...all coordinated perfectly. They've definitely got a handle on their style.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
M.
You do realize that at 6/7, they will pick out their own outfits on a regular basis. You should see some of the patterns Soleil picks. It KILLS me and I only make her change when the patterns give me an instant headache!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am FINALLY seeing the differences between Ree and Ro!
THey are sooooooooooooooo darn trendy!!!!
ReplyDeleteLots of dots are important. The Tongginator calls them polky dots.
ReplyDeleteI love the rainbow ponies all over! I'm going to have to try that, maybe even on me!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite outfit from the girls this week is the polka dots one. Polka dots by definition, ok, well maybe just "my" definition is fun =)
passed by...but love ur blog instantly..oh my god, great blog--great parent, cute daughters...2 girls are very pretty, especially their eyes!
ReplyDeletethey are too cute--hehe很可爱!!!

I haven't come across an outfit of theirs yet that hasn't made me smile! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteM3,
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly leggins are from Old Navy. I think we got them last fall. They also came in a green/blue mix (we bought it as a 3 button shirt). They are just funky enough that they go with everything!
Best,
Indiana Lori
I love Ree's orange and peach outfit! And P and Ro can go shopping together - it will be a pink-stravaganza! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBTW, P can pick out who's who - she'll confidently point to Ro and Ree in your photos. She gets it right every time.
My fav is the polka dot outfit and the multiple pony tails.
ReplyDeleteAdorable. I love their choices, they really can pull it together :)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to participate this week but look forward to next Friday!
Your photography is EXTRA great today. Totally love shot 1 and 2, especially shot 2. This would look so cool framed or as a canvas print.
