Beach girls and enchiladas

Cruising to the beach is always fun, but even more so if you can play car bingo the whole way! (We have a bunch of printouts with common road signs, road trip sights, and types and colors of cars that the girls really dig crossing off.) Ro and Ree are wicked-serious when it comes to bingo, by the way, and they never tire of it. So now you've been warned—if you ride in our van, don't be thinking you get to ride along leisurely listening to some tunes. Come prepared to play a whole lot of bingo: IMG_3953LRs Once at the beach, the girls met a new friend, Amara, who we've been wanting to meet for awhile now. They were instantly smitten. IMG_3958LRs All three girls loved playing in the waves (and mama Jen and I were so grateful that TubaDad tromped back and forth and back and forth with the girls so we could laze around in the sand and talk): IMG_3959LRs IMG_3966LRs Little Ree seemed particularly taken with Amara, holding her hand, looking out for her, and even sharing a blanket/cape: IMG_3968LRs I don't even need to mention that the enchiladas we had later for lunch were a huge hit with the ladies, do I? I'm thinking these pictures say it better than I ever could: IMG_3973LRs IMG_3975LRs IMG_3976LRs Mmmmmm. Hey I wonder if they like beaches or mexican food better? Betcha they'd be hard pressed to pick a fave. (Ree is in the purple shirt, and Ro is in the blue one, and they were in charge of picking outfits and accessories today.)

Obviously, enchiladas taste better if you can share with a new friend and spread a bit on your face....

  2. Hi M3, I read your blog and came to it from another blog most likely. We are in N CA (inland) and are taking a road trip with our girls to S CA soon. Can you post where you found your bingo stuff? Our girls are 5 & 7 and are busy on a road trip. Since we have a long one I think the bingo would be good. We ordered the lap desks you got for Ro and Ree so look forward to trying them out too, as well as a portable DVD player (hoping that works).

Love reading about your girls' experiences and your pictures are great.

  4. Hi Molly -- we got our bingo sheets from http://theidearoom.blogspot.com/. She has the bingo games listed in her lefthand sidebar and we purchased the "5 games for $3" option. Lots of fun. One tip, print out an extra set for one of the adults so you can answer any questions without having to twist around in your seat. And that's great that you got the lapdesks - we use ours almost every day now. The girls just love them. I put a big clipboard on top, with the bingo sheets and other workbook pages, and I got smaller pads of paper that fit in the pockets, and also a soft fabric pencil case that also fits in the pockets. The pencil case is full of pens, crayons, scissors, tape, and all sorts of crafty things.

    Cheers!

  8. Oh Amara and I had such a great time! And, yes, I actually got to chat a bit with your wonderful hubby watching all three girls! I love the enchilada photo. Truly sensorial eating! Amara's still talking about Ro and Ree. I'm uploading some photos to my blog today too, keep a look out.

    Let's do it again soon!
