The birthday wrap-up (finally!)
Ahhhhh, it was a good fourth birthday. The best. Here's what I think Ro and Ree will remember:
Fun dinners with family. (This one was at our fave Mexican restaurant, minutes after Aunt R, cousins S & H, and Ma and Pa landed. The girls ate their enchiladas, then daddy's, then started looking around at everyone else's plates):
Their first-ever sleepovers! Each girl had a cousin in her room, and they rotated each night. (squeal)
Four carseats in the van (so much more exciting than two boring 'ole seats).
Playing at a warm, sunny, fun beach all day, and seeing tons of dolphins!
Sharing the birthday grins with a sister. Here they were dressed up and on their way to Ro's party at Pump It Up (Ro in pink, Ree in yellow):
Frolicking at the local FCC Moon Festival, where they got to stay out "wheely wheely yate" (really really late), carry lanterns, listen to a fun story about the moon, and roll around on the grass like crazy:
Opening an incredible pile of presents from family and friends and loving every single thing:
Intently watching Pa check his sugar levels each day (have I mentioned before that the girls are obsessed with blood? In any case, I think he got a little kick out of the rapt audience):
Showing their Texas cousins one of their favorite haunts, Gilroy Gardens. (It was a girl-power kind of a day):
Taking cupcakes to preschool and giggling as the whole class sang Happy Birthday:
Avoiding napping/sleeping like the plague, which made for some hilarious droopiness during dinner time:
Getting their first big-girl bicycles from Ma and Pa and "helping" TubaDad and Pa race to see who could assemble his the fastest:
Trying to both get outside in the excitement and getting stuck in the doorway (Ro has on black tennis shoes and Ree has on purple ones):
Waking up on the morning of the 6th for Ree's family party and coming downstairs to a decorated princess land, complete with mini princess cakes and Belle and Aurora costumes from Wela and BobBob. (You'd think we'd have cute pics of them in these princess costumes, but Ro and
Ree wouldn't take off those dang angel PJs. I think they wore them for two straight days. Oh well, at least they're cute, I love that they say "angel" on the front and have wings on the back):
Finding a hot-pink Ford Mustang in the garage from TubaDad and I. (They've already mastered squealing the wheels, flipping it into reverse, and doing donuts, as seen in this video. Whooee...)
Asking a hundred times a day why my toe is purple. (I broke another toe, and every time I do this, which is pretty often, I hear my brother's voice saying "damn monkey toes, they snap like twigs!"):
Getting one last hug from Ma and Pa before they hopped on the plane:
And then breakfasting on some to-die-for peanut butter and jelly cupcakes that Auntie Lon made for them:
Yep, we packed every possible ounce of birthday bash into the last few days. Happy birthday little sweeties. Now good lord I need a nap.

Yep, fewer things are more frightening than an over-confident 4-year old behind the wheel, eating a cookie.
ReplyDeleteHours of enjoyment there!
HOLY COW! That was a birthday BONANZA not just a bash!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they had fun!!!!
Looks like you gave them a 4th birthday to really remember. (Oh, and if Aunt Lon is willing to share the PB&J cupcakes, I'd love the recipe. They look yummy!)
ReplyDeletethat was one amazing birthday!
ReplyDeleteWhew!!! I am exhausted just looking at the pics!!!! What a great bday bonanza!!!! Sorry about the toe! Ouch!!
ReplyDeleteCan I please be one of your children?
ReplyDeleteWOW so much fun, family, friends, cake, pressies:)
ReplyDeleteOh and I especially loved the pics of the beach and the dolphins!!! As I am typing this HUGE snow flakes are falling in my back yard and the temps are down to -4....so some sunshine and beach would be lovely right now.....
Awesome. Family, friends, princesses and a car. Now THAT'S how you turn four.
ReplyDeleteWhat's on tap for next year? ;-)
A great birthday wrap up!! Lots of fun + lots of celebrating = good memories!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great celebration!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find those adorable Angel pajamas?
That was one AMAZING bday weekend....no wonder it has taken you a couple days to resurface:) I don't think you could have squeezed another second of fun into it.
ReplyDeleteThe video is so funny.....I love that she was driving with one hand and eating a cookie with the other.
Do you think Auntie Lon would share the PB&J cupcake recipe with your faithful readers? They look so good.....
Lisa
Love it all! It looks like great fun. Where did you get the princess cake toppers?
ReplyDeleteSweet Potato Pi: We're thinking a roadtrip to Disneyland would be the best 5th bdays ever. :-) We'll see.
ReplyDeleteAngel: The sweet angel PJs (my new all-time faves) are Carters PJs that were purchased at Macy's.
Maggie and Lisa: I just asked her for the PBJ cupcake recipe and will post it shortly. Yum!
Kate: The princess cakes (toppers and all) were $8 cakes from Lucky's bakery. (A huge local grocery store) They also had them at SaveMart. Best cake deal I ever saw, and they were delicious too. We saved the toppers now that the cakes are gone, so if anyone local needs to borrow them, just let me know. :-)
Aaaahhh!! Yots of squealing over here about this update! Happy Birthday girls, you looked like you had the time if your little lives! GongXi, Gongxi! (we say that in Chinese in celebration with you!)
ReplyDeleteI got tired just looking at the pictures. I am so glad that one of my daughters asks for "Pump It Up" every year. It's so easy.
ReplyDeleteI remember starting at age 3, I kept thinking this is the BEST age. Then at 4, I said the same thing. Now my youngest is 5, and I am totally in love with this age. I guess that must end somewhere in the teen years. Looks like you are in for a wild time when your girls get to driving age! LOL.
The video is just plain hilarious, one handed and eating a cookie. The girl can multitask, add that to her resume. I now need a nap after just looking at the pictures. The girls will certainly treasure the memories from this birthday. Watch out world, the Salsa Twins have a pink convertible and are not afraid to use it. :) Maybe you should have invested on a 4X4 instead...
ReplyDeleteI wanna have my next birthday at your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewooooooooooo-weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
What fun everyone had!
Best,

dd Brilliance 3 Fuling China
Did they celebrate the Queen Mum's 90th that good? Nah.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your girls! Oh what fun you all had. And those PBJ cupcakes? Totally looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm! I think I recognize Olive Garden plates. Looks like the birthday celebrations were as yummy as they were fun.
ReplyDeleteWow,wow,wow....you had just oodles of fun.
ReplyDeleteMy Dahlia went through each of your pictures full of questions and squeels of delight in hopes of seeing something similar for her next b-day. Especially the Barbie car. Oh, she groaned audibly. (Though I think her legs may be too long for it now - she's growing too fast!)
Hope you're catching some well deserved zzzz's now!
Happy bday to the girls. LOVE the birthday princess cakes. We will have to do that next year. Glad you all had a great time.
ReplyDeleteWow mamma! You don't need a nap...you need to hibernate to recoup from all that birthday fun!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a ton of fun your girlies had!!! That's a marathon birthday celebration if I've ever heard of one and you lived it to the fullest. You rock!!
Thanks for sharing the great fun with us via pics and videos.
LOL....laughin at your brother's comment! :o)
I may be confused, but do you have separate parties for each of them?
ReplyDeleteHi Jenna, yep we figure they'd each get a party if they were born on different days, so there's no reason to lump them together just because they're twins. They both go to each other's party, obviously, and we sing Happy Birthday twice at each party. For the last two years it has worked out that one wants a big party that their friends come to and one wants a family-only party at home. We might have to come up with something creative if both girls decide they want big parties with all of their friends in attendance, but for now it's working for us.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of going through about 2,000 pictures and selecting the very best ones! I was looking at yours, R's, and mine today and we really took a lot of fun pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful week with the four of you and R, S, and H, but I have to confess that I was ready for a good rest when we got back to Houston last night.
We are so blessed to have fantastic grandkiddos and so many memories of our times with them.
Ma
LORDIE!!!! No wonder it was the best birthday EVA... it went 4EVA!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY RO!!!
HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY REE!!!
((((((((HUGE BIG KOALA BEAR HUGS))))))))
4 U! (see there are four hugs each there!!!)
Dang... I'm so ticked, I haven't got my act together this year!!! This darn year is going TOO FAST!!! Hopefully there'll be some little Aussie surprises coming soon! (just so this 4th birthday will NEVER end!!!)
That video is awesome! Peeling out....donuts... you whispering not to go on their grass..HAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun birthday BASH!!!! You can tell those girls are loved beyond words!!! It looks like you guys had a GREAT time celebrating their birthdays!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what a fun birthday bonanza!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try that peanut butter and jelly cup cake recipe. Looks fabulous!!
Stace
That looks like a blast!! Too bad about your toe, but I must say your feet look FABULOUS! How you ever fit in pedicures with the kind of schedule you keep I'll never know! I wear socks for a reason, LOL :)
ReplyDelete-Heather
Aw, Heather you're sweet! No pedicures though, just some cool pink polish I got at the drug store.
ReplyDeleteI love that they have separate parties! I can't relate to being a twin, but I know they appreciate that. I can tell you appreciate their individuality, as well. Thanks for responding!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pics of TubaDad posed and ready to catch each girl as she jumps off the blow up toy.
