Hm, perhaps I haven't been as covert about snitching their Halloween chocolate as I thought

We were standing in the checkout line at the drugstore tonight when Ree ran over to a giant candy display, scooped up armfuls of M&M packages, and screamed "Daddy, we need chockit, YOTS of chockit, cause Mama's been eating all of ours!" IMG_4430

  3. Little buggers will also be the first to tell Tubadad if you get a ticket, run a red light, mutter something you shouldn't, etc. You get the picture. Trust me on this one.... :D

  4. No offence but they are nearly four and their pronounciation is sometimes that of a 2 year old.

  6. Smart little cookies, heh.
My little monster doesn't like candy (gasp!), so I was free to pick and choose from his Halloween stash before he threw the rest away... kids!

  7. My kids have taken all the fun out of snitching candy -- they actually gave me PERMISSION to take any candy I want. Darn them!

Saying 'no offense' before you say something offensive is like saying 'no pain' when you pinch someone. I think it is spelled pronunciation.

  12. Just too cute for words. Just wait til you have both of them looking at expensive cashmere sweaters in Macy's window and saying, "But Mama - I just GOTTA have it!" And then there will be 2 cars, two college tuitions at the same time....Oh man M3 - grab a bottle of champagne and try not to think about it. :-)

JMO ~ Didn't your mother tell that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!!

M3 ~ the girls are adorable!! And I haven't had a problem understanding anything they've said in videos you've posted! Ignore JMO!

JMO - Sometimes children learn a word one way (e.g., "chockit") and it sticks. They're called "frozen forms" and it's not at all uncommon. Google "frozen forms phonology" if you want to read more about it.

    The girls are adorable!

I'd much rather talk like a 2 year old than spell like an 8 year old, JMO!!!! No offense!

  21. Your gonna have to get up very early in the morning to put anything over on those two...you are so in trouble!!

I laughed when I read the post because I could imagine sneaking one piece (if my hands were tied) a day in the hope that no one was watching...or counting.

Re the responses to JMO, my experience is to ignore that type of anon response and not to feed it with bullying type responses. Bullies like JMO love the bait so I would leave the comment alone and let it hang out to dry. she is entitled to her opinion, but really, who cares what she thinks. The girls seem just fine thanks to the great parenting of M3.

  23. Ignore JMO, s/he has no clue what they are talking about.

Based on various videos you've posted, the girls are not behind in their language development, they're hanging onto their Chinese. I remember a recording a while back of Ro playing piano over the baby monitor and talking to herself, and my husband swears she said some stuff in Chinese. She said something suspiciously like the Chinese word for well behaved, as though she was telling herself she was a good girl. I'm betting you'd be more than happy to have them retaining some Chinese at the cost of perfect American-English pronunciation.

  24. Chloe asked me last night if she could have some of her Halloween candy (peanut M&Ms, her favorite). I made her set it aside and told her she would have to wait until after dinner, a bath, and 30 minutes of Vision Therapy. She was sooooo patient.

After she completed all the tasks, we went to the table to get her candy...........and it was missing. Daddy had snatched up that special treat that she had been waiting for all evening. She was so understanding and Dad gave her something else chocolate. I, on the otherhand, was not too happy with Daddy!

Oops! I almost forgot whose blog I am on. This is yours, not mine!

Cute post! I think it's great that our kids are so forgiving of us.

Ignore JMO. Someday, when they are saying chocolate correctly, you will miss hearing chockit & will be glad you documented the cute way they pronounced things. My kids are eight and I tried to write every cute thing down so I wouldn't forget it. (appit tree for apple tree, blink for blanket lol)

  26. The Tongginator? Often scrunches up her face and says, "Momma, let me smell your breath... because I think I smell chocolate." Oops. Might I suggest breath mints? Because that's what I'm gonna start trying.
