It's insidious, isn't it?

Want to know what I saw when I looked in the backseat on the way to dinner last night? IMG_0080LR IMG_0077LR Yeah. I can't really believe it either. TubaDad has now sneaked two Apple devices into our PC-lovin' house—his iPhone for work and some new gizmo called an iPad that can hook into the audio/video system in the car. And you'll notice that the four-year-olds are blissfully in possession of both of them.

  1. Hee. I had a feeling that would happen with the IPhone. The IPad I'm totally jealous about. Joe would LOVE one of those. It's only a matter of time before your house goes completely Apple. Just give in. Resistance is futile. :)

  2. Ahahaha! Hilarious!! My hubby is longing for an iphone (hoping for June when our contract renews) and there is no way on this great earth that he'd allow it to fall into the hands of our soon-to-be 4 yo. That fact alone displays the highest pedestal that MACs hold in our house. Don't worry...you're still a PC ;)

  3. I'll have to get a picture of M3 using the iPad. :-)

I think it's amazing how fast Ro and Ree can figure out how to do things on it. They already kind of know how to use the iPod and Videos apps to find the things they like, and there are a few games they really like to play.

If your car happens to have a rear auxiliary input for a game console or something similar (our Odyssey has it), Apple makes a composite video input cable that works great with the iPad. The girls can watch whatever video or listen to whatever song they like in the back of the car and we don't have to switch CDs or DVDs in the front. I'm very happy with it.

  6. (disclaimer, we are an Apple family). Last year in February I bought an iTouch. It was so beautiful. We kept saying we'd be a 2 iTouch family by Christmas. We got the second one not a week later. Why? Because in a matter of one day our then 4 year old daughter not only managed to maneuver the iTouch with so much confidence but also ended up with a whole page of her own apps! So we got the second one so that my husband could have a go at it. My iTouch is really not mine, it's the kiddo's. Luckily I have a laptop but we're hedging our bets that by this summer we'll also have an iPad.

  7. BTW, the iTouch has been a savior on long trip. It's awesome. And we don't have to hear a blessed thing because we plug in earphones.

  8. HAHAH! re: "4 year olds are blissfully in possession of both of them."

I see that the iPad is a color not known to appeal to the older, parental type as well.

    hysterical!

  9. Yes, I thought the kids would take over the iPhone and wondered how you were going to deal with one phone and two kiddos. The iPad is the perfect solution. I want one really bad (already have an Iphone) but it will have to wait a bit. In the meantime I can hear how TubaDad likes it. Elaine

  10. Ahh, yes. I lost my iPhone within hours of owning it. E figured out how to use it faster than I did.

I am jealous of the iPad. I reeeeeeeeeeally want one but haven't figured out the perfect excuse for it yet. I'm thinking maybe Mother's Day! :o)

  11. Hahah! I am an Apple! I have a macbook, and an iphone.. totally love them and would NEVER go back!!!

My niece who is 5 often says ooh I don't have a touch anything! she just wants something of her own that works by touching the screen!!

Give in! Apple is the future.. whoever said it was orange was totally wrong!

  12. Seriously, that is SOOOOOOO WRONG....
I am 39 years old and just got my husband's OLD (1 year) Iphone and he got the new one. As much as I was a SIMPLE girl(old RAZOR flip phone), I must admit that I am very happy with the IPhone. Like my hubby said, it is a computer that dials.
It just amazes me that the girls are running with it...it shows the ease of its use.
Go ahead...you know you want to check things out on it.

  13. They will take over both devices. My friend's 4 year old son has commandeered his parents' two iphones. He knows how to download (thank goodness free) apps and use them and he can't read! At dinner last night he decided he needed music and put on iheart radio and rocked out while eating mac and cheese. When he was done he spent the rest of dinner taking pictures of everyone.

  14. I'm a tad jealous of the iPad. ;) I hope Tuba Dad can get those back someday in the next 2 or 3 years.

  15. Too funny! Watch out mommy....I see a Macbook Pro in your near future. :o)

As much as I like my PC I know I could be an Apple convert if it weren't for the price point. Looking forward to trying out your new fun gadgets when we visit....if we can pry them out of your girl's hands. Hmmm....better come armed with Lifesavers for bribes! ;o)

My netbook went wonky on me tonight, and Apples are sounding more and more appealing. My 3 y/o can operate an ITouch. I'd like to think I could use the IPad. And I wonder if they offer a frequent buyer or high volume discount because both my son and I want IPhones. Let us know how you like the IPad!!!
