Well the bags are (mostly) packed and we're ready to set out on a grand Hawaiian adventure. It’s a combo Mother’s Day/anniversary/life-is-short trip and we've been wanting to do it for such a long time. We are all beyond excited and CAN’T WAIT to hop on that plane tomorrow morning.
The girls are dying to swim in warm water, play in the sand, eat tons of pineapple and “white fluffy” (that’s what Ree calls white roughy fish) and seabass (Ro says it’s her “best” fish), and wear flip flops all day and night. I’m pretty excited about those things too, but also just can’t wait to see Ro and Ree enjoy the heck out of their first island vacation.
Here’s a quick peek at the girls’ fashion choices today (since it is Fashion Friday). They’re posing with the wild suitcases they picked out at the store for this trip. Ree is adorable and summery in her ocean blue colors (blue is reportedly her favorite color this week), while Ro is cute and spunky in a hot-pink top and ruffled striped shorts. As always, the random origins of their outfits amuse me. Ree’s beloved sequined tank top was a Goodwill find last year (I talked about it in this post), her skirt is one I found at Target when I was supposed to be buying a friend's bday present, and she picked out her headband at the girls’ new fave store: Claire’s. Ro’s shorts are handmedowns from buddies H2&S2, and “go wiff everyting” according to Ro, her headband was a Christmas gift, and she picked out her long-sleeved top/tee at Crazy8. Oh, and they’re both wearing their Skecher’s glitter shoes because they’re so proud to tie their own shoes and they’re the only tie shoes we have in the house.
Well, the girls are at preschool for a couple of hours this morning, and I’m supposed to be finishing up the packing right now. Hm. Better say aloha and get my butt in gear. Malama pono!
Have the BEST time. I know you will. :)

ReplyDelete*turning green with envy*! We lived in Hawaii (pre-kids) and it's one of my favorite places on earth. Strangely, my daughter just told me on the way home from playschool (while we were listening to some Hawaiian music on the ipod) that she wanted to go to Hawaii. Maybe you put slip her in your carry-on? :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!! Make sure to eat plenty of chocolate covered macademia's :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, have the best of times! Make sure you get the girls on film when they first touch the water at the beach. Eat shave ice for Emma! Oh, and don't forget to look for Leonard's red trucks, there is nothing like fresh Malasadas.

We're taking a three week vacation to Italy, etc, this summer and I'm frantically looking for suitcases for the girls. Naturally, I love yours.
ReplyDeleteDo they roll well? Do they seem sturdy enough to check (not carry on) and still arrive at the baggage claim carousel with all four wheels intact? Does the handle adjust so that small kiddos can pull it without dragging on the ground?
My head is spinning from looking at suitcases all week. Would you buy these again? And, speaking of that, what the heck are they? I can't click on the image to enlarge it.
If you have a minute and a few thoughts on this, I'd love to hear from you! :)
Donna
Aloha Donna!
ReplyDeleteItaly will be so fun, can't wait to see the pictures!
We got the girls' suitcases at Sears about a week before the trip. I think they were about $100 each or maybe less because they were on sale. We walked in every store in the mall and those were the ones they picked. They're Heys suitcases and I love the way they're built inside (great straps and compartments) plus they're expandable, which is cool in a hardside. They made it fine to Hawaii as checked luggage, and I'll let you know if they have any problem on the way home. The wheels are cool too, the bag can stand up and rotate around in a circle. Oh, and you asked about the handle, it has three positions -- closed, open all the way, or halfway (which is good for smaller kids). To get the halfway position, you open it all the way then depress the button and go to the halfway position (it was kind of tricky to figure out). The handles aren't as sturdy as our Samsonite luggage, in my opinion, but we haven't had any trouble yet.
Fun!
