On their way to soccer class without me

I woke up with a bad bad bad migraine this morning, so the girls and TubaDad are on their way to soccer class without me, which is a bummer. Ro and Ree looked so precious in their cute athletic-ish outfits that I grabbed a few pics. No time to edit them, so here there are, just as I took them. Notice the perpetually trashed playroom in the background and the always-present swivel sweeper in the corner. Both are pretty good representations of our everyday life I guess.

I’m trying out this new Windows Live Writer program (it’s free and probably on your pc already if you want to try it). It lets you compose blog posts and insert multiple pics with your prechosen defaults (like border treatment, size, links, etc) with one click (rather than the horrendously convoluted and labor- and time-intensive way I do it right now with Blogger and Flickr). So we’ll see if it works. I guess if this post shows up, it will be a success.

Anyhow, here’s Ro (left) in her new fave shark tee, and Ree (right) in her new fave navy blue peas tee. They both tied their own shoes (and are inordinately proud of this accomplishment). I’ll probably forget later on that Ro ties hers by making two bunny ears, and Ree ties hers the more traditional way starting with one loop and wrapping the other string around it, so I'd better write it down here.

Alrighty, back upstairs to put more ice on my head. Y’all have a good, happy, and healthy weekend.

PS: Please let me know if the post works and if you can see the images. I'm still not really sure how Windows Live works. Does anyone know? Are the images stored somewhere else on someone else's server? Weird. The post seems to load extremely SLOW for me when I doublechecked it on the (admittedly slow) iPad, but it's fast on my PC.

  1. It has loaded fine for me and I can see all the photos.

I am impressed with the shoelace tying, my eldest was my older and my 6 year old has just cracked it.

  3. Must be in the air - I've had a migraine today with the absolute WORST and most frightening aura ever!! I started to see black spots, as if I had just looked at the sun, and then there were these black squiggles/zigzags in a crescent shape all in my left eye's vision!! I thought I was going blind! Do you get auras like that? are you taking anything? feel free to email me if you have any tips on avoiding/treating migraines!
hope your head feels better soon!
and a big congrats to the girls for tying their own shoes already! :-)

  4. I don`t know if this means anything but your pictures loaded super fast today. Normally I get a slight delay for all of your pictures and one or two that are super slow.

I love that your girls know the golden rule... every girl needs great socks!

I am impressed they can tie their own shoes, this is a skill that can take years to master.

The outfits are wonderful! I admire the shoe skills too. I grew up in sandals because of my duck like feet. So, I learned to tie by doing my cousins shoes. When I finally had my own, It toook me ages to figure out that winding the string around my single loop clockwise made their bows right but my bows parallel with my shoe. lol.

  7. Cute pictures, and yes, I could see everything just fine. Can the girls come to FL and teach a fellow July Dragonfly how to tie her own shoes? :-)

  8. The pictures loaded fast and look adorable (as always)!

Sorry to hear about your migraine. I'm a fellow migraine sufferer, and I have found that acupuncture really has helped reduce the frequency and intensity of my migraines. My neurologist said that 50% of migraines respond well to acupuncture. (He also said that my migraines are the hardest kind to treat medically, so I thought I didn't have much to lose).

    Good luck!

  9. Oh no! The first day of truly gorgeous weather in what feels like weeks and you have a migraine? Makes my eyes hurt just thinking about it! I sure hope you're feeling better. Seriously, I can't think of a worse way to spend a lovely Saturday.

  10. Love the note about tying shoes. I still tie my shoes with double bunny ears (self taught) and I'm almost 34.

I kinda like Live Writer! You can make the pictures whatever size you want. In my case I like big and huge! I am using it on a Mac so I have to go at it differently. You can also tumble pictures in a album. I haven't tried it yet but I will.

  17. Tying their shoes themselves? I'm impressed. After 5 years of working with kindergarteners, I've tied WAY too many shoes.

  18. Live Writer...hmmm...I'll have to check that out. The post looks great. I can't believe you were able to do all of that with a migraine. I have to lock myself in a dark room when I get one. PC apps are the last thing I can stand. Hope your migraine was short lived and you are back to the fun.

(P.S....my word verifcation was 'blextal'. Kind of sounds like a migraine drug. Although maybe Blech-tal would be better!)
