TubaDad is STILL on the longest business trip in the world, actually I’m not even sure if he’s passed the halfway point yet, so the girls and I decided to sneak up to Tahoe and meet my little brother and sis-in-law for the weekend. The laundry from the Hawaii trip is almost done, and I had to dump out the rest of the stuff that was still in our suitcases so I could repack for Tahoe. It’s a horrible mess, but totally worth it, and I’m hoping I get to clean up before anyone sees our house.
Have I ever mentioned that BobBob’s talents extend far beyond building spectacular playhouses? He also maintains and flys his own antique 4-seater plane. And this weekend, the girls got to take their first flight in that small plane. Oh man, it was thrilling!!! We were luckyluckylucky that the stars aligned and BobBob could drop us off in Tahoe today, stay a bit to play, then fly home and return to pick us up on Monday.
Ro in pink and Ree in purple sitting in the back seat before we got the plane out of the hangar. Notice that they have already started munching on their snack bags:
You know it was a great flight and a great landing when your passengers are still grinning at the end. Thanks dad!:
We’re spending the weekend up at the old family a-frame cabin (we love every green-shag-carpeted square inch of it) and are having such fun hanging out with Bobby and Jane. No internet connection at the cabin, and no way to check email, so I’m writing this at night and queuing it up because I heard a rumor that if I parked in the McDonald’s parking lot in the morning I could tap into their free internet access. We’ll see if it works.
There’s one teeny little patch of snow remaining by the cabin, just enough for the girls and BobBob to lob a few snowballs our way:
Did you know that Jeffrey pine trees smell like vanilla and pineapple when the sun hits them?
We’re going to try kayaking tomorrow (Bobby and Jane have all the cool gear!):
With only four-seats in the plane, Wela had to miss today’s jaunt, but I have it on good authority that she spent some time scouting out special Fourth of July material to whip up some Wela Wear dresses for Hannah, Ro, and Ree to wear together in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait to see them!
