Day 3 of the remodel, but first the girls

It was picture day at school, so Ree and Ro carefully picked out complementary outfits and trooped off to school to cheese it up with their buddies. I didn’t get a pic of them this morn (the no-kitchen thing has me a little scrambly in the a.m.), but I did grab a couple this evening after they had played hard all day. Good enough! Guess I don’t need to say who’s who any longer, what with the hair thing and missing tooth, right?

It was an accidental location, but I’m kinda liking the pink wall of their room as a background. It just happened to be where they were standing when I ran by with the camera.

Remodel News: Ok, I’m calling it a remodel now thanks to your helpful comments. So anyhow, Day 3 of construction was a short one, they were only here for two hours, and in that time they chipped out the interior and exterior frame of the kitchen window and took out the downstairs bathroom shower and vanity. Wait, have I mentioned before that we’re doing the downstairs bathroom at the same time as the kitchen? Cannot for the life of me remember and am too lazy to go search the blog. Anyhoo, it’s a tiny powder room (which won’t change) but instead of being an ode to plastic and gold-colored stuff it will be neutralized (sounds painful!) and contemporarized it for as little money as possible.

Here’s the before. Breathtaking, no? Heh:

And here’s what it looked like today:

Alrighty, I think that’s about it for Big Ole Remodel Day 3. Oh, and dinner was out at a restaurant tonight, because my boy was heading out to catch another plane and we were going for quick, easy, and (most importantly) zero clean-up.

Cheers!

  1. You are brave! Kitchen AND powder room remodels, wow! The girls are adorable as usual. I really thing Tubadad should arrange to take you with him until everything is done :)

    1. Ha, I don't think I could hack his travel schedule! Living through a two-room remodel is cake compared to what he's doing. :-)

  2. As usual the girls outdid themselves. Very smart doing the two jobs together...one big mess for two remodels!

  3. Love the new location for pics with the pink wall! Sigh...finally even Catherine can tell them apart. It only took 6 1/2 years! Great pics of Ro and Ree!

Remodel looks awesome! Are you making the window in the kitchen smaller to accommodate for the cupboards?

    1. Yep, the window will get a little narrower, higher (counter height), and will be one big piece of glass (no more center frame or screens to cover up the view).

  4. I'm enjoying following the remodel! I love the girls' sense of style...I have a 4 year old who has similar taste, lots of colour always.

I'm so spatially impaired that I will have to wait until the room is done to see what you are describing. But I do understand the dust after doing both a bathroom and kitchen. It was everywhere and took the cleaning lady months to get every crevice. Love the results though.

I love seeing the remodel in action.
