So close now!

How much do I love that our main granite guy showed up in a tie and scarf today?!:DSC_2836LRDSC_2838LRDSC_2848LRDSC_2852LRDSC_2860LRDSC_2864LR

We love the new counters! And the new floor. ♥ ♥

So at the end of week 5, the cabinets are 90% done, the floors are done, the counters are done, and all electrical drops have been put in. It is getting so exciting! Still to be done: backsplashes, appliances and related pieces like range hood/garbage disposal/faucet/etc., electrical hook-up and trim, finish lighting (including pendants), cabinet trim and final adjustments, painting.

The new island is HUGE. I asked Ro to stand near it for perspective. Can’t wait for the first party to use every inch of it.

PS: The bar cabinets near the window were temporarily taken out for the granite install. The floors are large Café Light travertine tiles set on the diagonal with 1/16 grout lines.

  4. It's beautiful!

Your island is the size of the kitchen in my one bedroom apartment. LOL.

I want to come up and see it in person! Must plan a visit soon.

  11. That is beautiful! You know, I never would have thought about setting tile on a 45 degree diagonal, but a pro recommended it for our bathroom makeover, and we really love it.

  13. I have a huge master bathroom floor I'm about to do in travertine on the diagonal too. What did they tell you was the best thing to clean it with? It will have to be washed a lot because of where it is. I'm going to do a zero grout line with epoxy grout. It's more expensive, but it doesn't discolor and get dirty like regular grout. Beautiful job! My cousin in Willow Glen has the same granite and loves it.

    1. They didn't tell us anything brand-specific, just said to get travertine cleaner, not to use any regular kitchen cleaners. That epoxy grout sounds awesome!! Send me a pic when it's done.

Now, that my idea of an island paradise . . .

As long as you are replacing a toilet, may I recommend a "Whisper-Close" seat?

Cute main granite guy and scarf!

    1. We did -- I got this crazy European style toilet (Ariel Hermes) and the lid is so funky. You just nudge it downward and it creeps slowly down (takes a little while).
