Decided to try out our new cake-pop maker (Christmas present from the folks) for breakfast this morn. So the girls whipped up some donut-hole batter (from the recipe in the manual). The little round shapes turned out great (I turned them once in the middle of baking so they browned evenly).
We added melted choc chips, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and mini marshmallow bits. Frankly a piece of cardboard would taste pretty good with that topping:
What do you mean I have a little something on my face? I don’t feel anything:
We’d definitely make these again (so easy!), but I’d love to try a different recipe (something lighter and without nutmeg this time – it tasted a little strange to me) and maybe attempt some of that traditional sugary donut glaze that I’m mildly addicted to. Mmmmmm. The girls didn’t seem to mind this first round though, afterwards Ree said “Mama, this was the best breakfast EVER!”
So, what did you have for breakfast?
And, does anyone have a great donut-hole recipe to use in the cake pop maker?
You have to make a polka dot cake! You can search for it on pinterest. I just helped a friend make one this week and they are really fun!
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to a great tutorial....

I will have to try donut-holes this week. Yum!
Tell the girls their cousins from Houston send them big hugs!

This is a wonderful site. Thank you so much for sharing.
Deletei had a juice i made from scratch with cucumber, mulunggay and orange. my daughter had some as well and a banana and a homemade popsicle made with coconut milk, cocoa and honey.
ReplyDeleteSounds delish!! I don't even know what mulunggay is and will have to google it immediately...
DeleteCan you give the recipe for the popsicles. They sound wonderful.
DeleteMax had cheese toast and egg, Vanh had pb with honey and egg. For lunch we had cheese & crackers, milk, and a variety of ice cream and sprinkles. Must be growing some bones today!
ReplyDeleteWe had pre-packaged blueberry muffins, Florida orange juice (from a carton) & a sip of milk on the way out the door to Disney! Been here since 8 am and still hanging 14 hours later!
ReplyDeleteI got one of those for Christmas too but I haven't opened the box yet. I should soon.
ReplyDeleteDo it, do it!! :-)
DeleteI found that when I cooked I followed the manual time exactly (I think it was 7 mins for the donut holes) but I had to rotate the balls at 4 mins because the bottoms got cooked more than the tops. Not sure if anyone else runs into that.
I have the mini cupcake maker made by the same brand. We love it! I bet pancake batter or regular cake batter will work in your cake pop maker. Oh and brownie batter too! With my cupcake maker I discovered that it was so easy to just have a batch of batter in the refrigerator and then just make a batch if cupcakes whenever I felt like it. It's very dangerous! And very yummy :)

Ok, tell the truth, how often do you sneak tastes of that delish little bowl of batter sitting in the fridge? ;-)
DeleteIt's not the batter I have a problem with. It's the frosting I keep in there to go with it. Somehow we always run put of frosting when there is still lots of batter left :)
ReplyDeleteWe like to use pancake batter in the cake pop maker and sprinkle bacon bits on top while cooking. (batter and bacon bits at same time)
ReplyDeleteWe have used ours for mini pancake balls. You can pop a few berries or banana slices into the batter, too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't have that. I'm jealous. My yogurt pales in comparison.
ReplyDeleteMmmm...looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteLook up Bakerella. So many cake pop ideas. Easter bunnies :-)
