Hello, my name is M3, and I'm totally addicted to Christmas cards
Usually TubaDad is the only one who cares enough to bring in the mail. If he's away on a business trip, the neglected stuff just piles up in the mailbox. Sometimes he gets home and can barely pry the lid open it gets so crammed. Oops. But not at Christmastime. It's the one time of year I can't wait for the mailman to drive up. Sometimes the girls and I even meet him at the box when we hear the truck coming. Ahhhhh, just love those Christmas cards. Love them. We can't wait to share the smiles, see the new pictures, hear the latest family news, and add the cards to our little basket o' joy. I saw on another blog that they hung all the Christmas cards on a little tree, and think that's an awesome idea that we are totally going to do next year.
Anyhow, here's our contribution to everyone's card baskets (real name changed in Photoshop, of course):
Ro is in the cream dress and then in the PJs with a red bow, Ree is in the black dress and then the PJs with the green bow. We set up the garage studio a couple of hours before TubaDad left on his last fateful business trip and snapped as fast as we could to get these Christmas grins on our seamless white background. I had to chuckle a little when TubaDad finally arrived home all bruised and scarred up after the taxi crash and one of the first things he said was "Good thing we took the Christmas pictures before this!" Heh.
Since the pictures are so tiny (yes, yes, my eyesight is going steadily downhill since I hit the big four oh), here are the larger versions, plus a few extras that just wouldn't fit on the card.
Decorating our tiny, little scruffy fake tree that has presided over many a Christmas in our house (and will see many more as long as I'm the only one cleaning up after the festivities):
Santa is coming, Santa is coming!!:
Mama, we can't believe you wrapped this huge box just for us to play in, can you leave it in the family room forever?:
Yanking her sister out of the box (not posed, an actual yank was in progress):
The big, wrapped box was fun, but getting to jump on the bed was just the bomb!:
Singing the Frosty song at the top of our lungs (yes, me too, it really was laughable):
Got some great pics of Ro smiling and looking all adorable, but this Little Miss Attitude pose just stole our hearts:
Sweet little Ree would never, ever do anything that would land her on the naughty list, now would she? Heh:
Happy jollydays, from our family to yours:
May you always find laughter in the little things:
Alrighty, time to go check that mailbox for more cards. Maybe, just maybe, the postman came early today!

Such great photos, can't help but make you smile!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I'm the first to post a comment? I guess this is how come I still haven't finished addressing the Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteAwww... I still have the one you sent me last year (of the girls crying on Santa's lap) pinned over my desk.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so, what's with Ree and the diva pose? I mean, Tyra Banks would go NUTS for that shot. Nigel Barker would rave!!! Miss Jay would positively flip her shoulder pads!!!
Put these kids to work, I tell ya. You and TubaDad would never have to lift a finger again!
Merry Christmas, guys. I'm trying to get cards out, but since they're not mailed yet, you might not get yours until just after the big day. (You'll like it, though. It's funny.)

These are BRILLIANT
ReplyDeleteThat last one is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteLove your card this year! I had to laugh at the one of Miss Ro sportin' some 'tude. It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteOf course, the family picture is fantastic, too. And hey, wait a minute, you've got hair! I can't think of when I've seen your hair down in a picture since, well, I can't remember! And you look quite lovely :)
Great card!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it could be zero degrees with a driveway covered in snow, and I'd still be out there in my boots and sweater, waiting on those cards. I sent out 120 this year, because you know, I'm trying to cut back.
Merry Christmas!
What a great card. That last picture is priceless; my favorite ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you!
you are holding up the remote control and making silly faces.
ReplyDeleteTOo MUCH FUN, can I come in and just laugh!

ReplyDeleteI am with you... I can see the mail truck pull up from my office window. As soon as I see her coming, I am walking (more like skipping) down the driveway to quickly browse the pile to see whose cards have arrived!!! I can barely wait to open them.... My poor hubby doesn't stand a chance.....all that is left for him are the bills:(
ReplyDeleteThe card is fantastic!!! Perfect in every way:) The girls look like they had so much fun with the props!!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas:)

ReplyDeleteBwhahaahah! Why didn't you choose the last shot? It ROCKS! Seriously! Too funny!

We too LOVE going to the mailbox this time of year! Yesterday there was only holiday cards not a single bill or other piece of junk! My kind of mail day!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable....LOVED it!!
Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteStefanie: Yep, tons o' hair. *grin* It's so thick it takes about 40 minutes to blow dry, so I hardly ever do it. I need to say no to the ponytail more often!!
Emily: The little silver shoes are from Children's Place. They're actually an exact knock off of my favorite Nordstrom shoes -- well everything except the price, these ones were only $20 or something like that.
Shannon: You bet!! Cruise on our to CA, and the first garage studio session will be yours. :-)
Rett: Oh it was a tough choice!! I swear I redesigned that little card about 10 times just moving all the pics around and swapping them out. I finally figured I just needed to walk away, clicked "submit" on the order, and poured a nice glass of wine. Ahhhhhh.
Love the pictures! Merry Christmas to the whole Salsa family!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteWe hang all our Christmas cards on our garland. I have card hooks so I just hang them without making any holes on them. It becomes part of the Christmas decoration.
I love your card, you take great photos.
Omg, I too am addicted to Christmas cards!Even better if it has a long cheesy letter about how perfect your family is!! awesome!!
ReplyDeletei love your photo skills and style :)
ReplyDeleteHey M3 LOVE the card. Here is a suggestion for your cards. You can use double stick tape to put them on the back or inside of a door! I put mine on the inside of our front hall closet door. If you have a closet with folding doors it won't work. But you can also do any other door. I started in the middle and then, as the years went by, moved up and down the door. My kids are teens and every time we open the closet door we see the pictures of friends over the years! People come and open the door and give an "ohhh, there's little tommmy when he was 2! I can't believe you still have the picture". It's so fun and a great way to keep your cards. I love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVED your Christmas card this year! The girls take turns keeping it in their room. I feel sorta bad that we didn't send any to anyone. Haven't even put the girls in their Christmas dresses and it's almost Christmas eve! Argh! Well, there's always tomorrow, I suppose!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your whole family. See ya next year!

Our Blog: Double Happiness!
Fun shots! I'm with you - I LOVE to open the mail this time of year and go strait for the Christmas cards! Those with photos are the BEST.
ReplyDeleteMerry, Merry Christmas!
Loved the photos--especially the last one! Everyone needs to just let it all hang out once in a while! So glad you did the photo shoot before TubaDad's accident!! Is he doing okay now? We are looking forward to our daughter's Christmas photos next year because they should have their second China Doll by then!
ReplyDeleteGrandma to 5 soon!
I think the little miss attitude shot is photo contest worthy.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are the bestest. I love them all and the last one is a huge hoot.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to the Salsa Family! May Santa bring all the goodies you have on your lists.
OMG, I just LOVE, LOVE the family portrait of you all making funny faces! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!
